Q3, Adam's interview questions and tweets about Idol went beyond those comments you are referring to that happened "off the cuff." He answered direct questions about wanting to be a judge and he said he would love it. Then he was waiting for a "green light" and "stressed" waiting to hear (sorry, do not think he was joking. His Ambien haze had him pretty frank and honest that night!)
Now, if what Bobo said Sauli said is right, then I can see him turning it down at the last minute because they wanted him to play a role and not be an honest judge. That is entirely possible. I could never see him wanting to be a producer's pawn.
