Yes, Yes and Yes to all your points. The only small difference in opinions, (and that's okay ) is that I can't blame Randy for taking the job. The economy sucks, he has a wife and kids. Randy took a job that keeps him home and keeps him supporting his family. I can't blame him for accepting millions of dollars for a job he has had for over a decade. I blame the idiots who thought it was a good idea to bring him back as a judge, but I understand why Randy would accept the offer. I find it hard, if not impossible, to believe that someone who has pulled in millions of dollars for several years would need to worry about supporting his family. Besides, I thought it was understood that he would have a mentoring position which I imagine would pay him well. I think he just hogged a seat that someone new could have done more justice to instead of another year of "Yo dawg - you are in it to win it." BLAH. :-/ LOL, ITA!! I seriously doubt Randy is hurting for money. Hell, he's been getting millions for doing practically nothing for 11 years. I have no doubt Randy would jump at the opportunity to judge again (I really think it's something he and Mariah likely cooked up proposed together) and they were planning to keep him on as a mentor even though he has been as useful as a dead houseplant the past three years. (Why??? I have NO idea ...) Randy is not one of your more self-aware people. He doesn't care that he says the same hackneyed things 1,000 times on live TV. He doesn't seem to care that he has a very limited job description ( judge contestants, give coherent feedback) and can't manage to do even the bare minimum there and he sure as hell doesn't realize when it's long past time to make a graceful exit. *sigh* Oh yeah, back to the shallow end ...

For session musicians and musicians in a backing band, it is a job. It might be a great job with wonderful co-workers. It may be a suck-y job playing music you hate for someone who is an SOB. The former are delightful gigs, the latter pay the bills and you just tough it out. A solo performer cannot afford to keep all his/her musicians on permanent salary so they will be available whenever needed. A musician cannot afford to go for weeks or months between gigs with their preferred solo performer. Unless you are a member of a professional band or orchestra, being a musician is being somewhat of a vagabond, always looking for that next gig. If Isaac is available the next time Adam tours, Adam may ask for him. Or, he may be happier with another drummer he has worked with and ask them. That's just the biz. Thanks for the info, cassie.I never thought about it like that before. It all makes sense now about musicians moving around by necessity and being a member of a backing band as fluid, rather than static. Interesting. 8-) susie-"dead houseplant"

How about an Idol Theory thread? A Complaint/Suggestion thread? An I Need Therapy thread?
It is hard to fill up a news thread, when there isn't much news. LMAO!! Is there a doctor in the house??? :4OMG: Seriously, I do have a MOD question. Since we have an Idol12 thread already in place, would that not be a great place for people to keep airing anything about Adam and Idol? I may be dreaming but I thought further Idol discussion had been moved there after the final Idol announcement. It was a BIG green post. If I am mistaken, my apologies. Honest, I would rather see a blank thread than going back into something that is over. It brings up all those awful feelings we had for the last couple of months. But I also recognize and respect that some are not done with this topic. Where should it be discussed? HALP!!!!!! :dunno:

Just wanted to give you a head's up in case you don't go to the Queen thread. I just got back from the movie "Hungarian Rhapsody, Queen: Live in Budapest" ... if at all possible, try to see it ... it's wonderful.
Talon has included a link (in the Queen thread) to all the theaters in the country that are showing it ... hopefully there is one near you.
Talon's comments: "a brief documentary taking the band from 1985 at Live Aid all the way through to a 1986 concert in Budapest, Hungary...and then show you the concert film. It was GLORIOUS. Great picture, sound, etc."
(Sorry if this shouldn't be in the news thread.)
