my burning question: Why was Randy out, then in. Was it because Enrique turned AI down AND Adam turned them down? Or, was it because Enrique turned them down and AI had already decided that Adam wasn't the right fit? JMO but I have the feeling that Adam wasn't the right fit. I honestly think he may have taken the judging angle too seriously and they were looking for cat fights, etc. I only have this impression from what Adam said about how a judge could help a singing contestant best -- discuss his/her technique, etc. He could positively do this (and probs wanted to) but AI wasn't looking for that angle. It's not like Adam wouldn't have brought some unpredictable outfits, hairstyles, comments and actions to the table. You would have had intelligent, well thought out comments from Adam, but there always would be that "what's he going to say next" feeling. Adam would have given them the unknown angle that Nicki gives them. What's she going to wear, what's she going to say... As far as Randy goes, My impression is that everything seemed to shift when Nigel signed back on. Did he not want Adam? Did he use up all their money for Enrique? Did they have to spend more than they wanted to on Nicki (and buying out her Pepsi contract) and Nigel? Did Nigel decide that they needed Randy back just this year to "steer the panel" until someone takes over? Nigel ran SYTYCD into the ground. I don't know why TPTB are allowing him to do the same with AI. Whateves, I'm enjoying the other two singing shows this fall!  |

The original leaks on Minaj were that she was signing on for 8-10 million. The final leaks say 12 million. The difference between the 8 mil and 12 mil is 4 million, the price of a 4th judge. I think it was a last minute shiteroo (supposed to be "switcheroo" but I think my typo is better! I am leaving it!) to Randy to 1) stay in the budget and 2) keep Mariah happy. Randy may be doing this for scale. He already has his % of Mariah's salary. And coming back saves face instead of being kicked to the curb. The sudden switch from Enrique OR Adam, to suddenly "Randy is back" was too sudden for me to not think something weird happened at the end. And I also don't trust Nigel. He lies consistently, feeds TMZ info, and attacks fans on Twitter. |

.....Brian was very discreet when the request went out for LA drummers. He references James Brown and another artist with funk. He's looking for a certain vibe. I think he's wise searching for a "beat" and not someone wanting to hook up with Adam Lambert's band. Actually, I think many would be chomping at the bit to audition for Brian. The tweets from the backup singers annoy me in the first place, so I was doubly unimpressed with her call for a drummer. Yep. Keisha was out of line - she screwed up and shouldn't place the blame on others. I unfollowed both girls after their defensive twitter ranting from Japan.  ....and I don't think anyone is "worried" about losing Isaac. Personally, I liked him more than his predecessor, but band members come and go, yes. ITA, no one is "worried"- Some are simply stating that they liked Issac and will miss him. I really liked Issac, he seemed to mesh with Adam's general vibe. He is married and didn't get involved with the "living room concert" fandom. As we have seen with the back-up girls and some past band members , a little discretion goes a long way! I appreciate band members who come in and simply do their jobs! |

I think SYTYCD just gets better and better every year ... I recently went back to some routines I had saved from the first season, and what I thought was fabulous then pales in comparison to the current season's talent of both the dancers and the choreography. The talent is phenomenal, Nigel provides opportunities to previous contestants (Travis Wahl choreography, bringing back the all-stars as partners, etc.). Although the show is sub-titled "America's FAVORITE Dancer," the judges' saves allow steering toward talent ... and this year there will be prizes for both the top boy and top girl, so they both have an equal chance. No WGWG here! |

Sadly, I expect SYTYCD will probably be cancelled and this season was the last. The ratings were really bad. |

We have to hope that RCA does have the promo strategy worked out this time around. My impression is that they counted on AI as the main part of it and now they have to come up with something new, at least for the US market. It seems that many things are decided last minute.... That story re S. Tyler and JLO quitting AI without any word from AI mgmt is very telling (if we choose to believe ST)...smoke and mirrors indeed... what a strange business model...  |
