ETA: Actually Adam could make the show.

Concert in Johannesburg is on the 16th.
The AMAs are November 18, 2012 @5:00PM LA time.

It is 24 to 34 hours from Johannesburg to LA but you also gain time on the clock.

Delta --- JNB 8:00pm 11/17/12 arrives LAX 10:00am 11/18/12.
24 hours travel time but he could arrive 7 hours before the show.
