Any time you pay attention to acting, it seems less genuine simply because you're hyper-aware that it's only acting. Usually when you watch a show, you're viewing the characters as people in a real-life situation and you're thinking only of what's happening to them in the scene. You only notice bad acting if it's really bad. But if you take any 20-second scene in any TV show or movie and you're looking to analyze and judge the quality of the acting, it tends not to come across as natural. ^^^^^^^^^ Practically perfect in every way , indeed! |

Adam saying words, in a TV show. I am happy. Playing a straight guy hitting on the girl? Where was that? Seems to me typical Adam seeing someone alone, looking a little down, and goes over to engage her. Keeping it light, a little giggle, asking her name... all things Adam would do with any fan, don't you think? And complimenting her on her name and appearance? Again something I have heard that Adam frequently does to make the interaction personal. Inviting a fan to come down front? Adam never does that with straight girls.... yeah, right. Too short, but, delightful to me in any case. |

I thought he was adorable in PLL. Are people really going to pick on his acting in a 20 second scene? I thought it was adorable too.  Me too. 8-) Personally, I thought his little 20 second scene was just fine. No harsh critique from me. That's a little snap judgement and unfair to me. :-/ |

Seems to me like Adam was told NOT to do a sexy come on, whether straight gay or whatever. This is on the family channel. Nothing predatory about that exchange. ;D So if he's supposed to be interested in her, that was some Emmy level acting. Because I don't think that's how Adam "hits" on people. ;D JS ABC family is not that "family friendly". It isn't a rated G type network. Many of the shows on this network are more PG13. I'll have to see the whole show, but in that clip, it seemed as if Adam was trying to hit on Aria. (which IS an awesome name-very musical!  ) The girl who plays Aria, Lucy Hale, took voice lessons from the same studio where my daughter took lessons for years. They were in a few shows together. Lucy is a really good singer, as well as an actress. Theatre/music is a small world! |

I'm going to add one more thing and that's it. Why are we discussing whether this seems like what Adam would do and say to someone in a bar? That's not really the point. Yeah, he "plays himself" but it is still acting and he is still fed the lines and directed in the delivery.

Ok, ok. I just gave my opinion, to which I'm entitled, and I said it may be different in the context of the show. News bulletin:Adam is practically perfect in every way, but his performances are open to discussion. I think it's a great opportunity, and he's not playing Richard the Third! I get that. I'm NOT going to hide behind the rock with junkets. Melliemom, I didn't mean to come off as harsh. Lampoon, I'll be your straight woman, and you can give me fashion advice anytime.LOL I'm not going hide. I never do. I take responsibility for my sometimes unpopular opinions. |
