We've never seen Adam on US TV for NYE so this isn't something new.
Adam is expanding his worldwide fanbase and that's a great thing. It's what is keeping him afloat at RCA at the moment I'm sure.
There has certainly been a shift. If the US isn't interested, glad to see that they are working international hard.[/quote
Exactly. Adam has an amazing international appeal and RCA is very smart to focus their energy and attention on that rather than trying to pander to the ultra conservative radio market here in the U.S.
To RCA money is money. They don't care where the sales come from as long as they come.
If Adam wants to be able to have money to put together a US tour and ever come close to Wisconsin & Co., then he has to earn the money to do so. He is doing that right now and building his international profile while at it. In my mind exactly the right thing to do. Banging his head against the wall at US radio is not going to help him or anyone move his career forward.
By the way, this is DMGs work, I am not sure that RCA is going to see much of anything from such concert events. Adam does not (TG) have the 360 deals where RCA would majorly profit from all his revenue streams. This is really Adam building seed money for a tour.
Now having said that, the vacation aspect of this is huge. The reality is that 2000 people at avg $ 500 is only about $ 1 mil to go around. That needs to pay for the venue, the dinner, party, two opening acts, film crews, Adam's band (which one???) and Adam himself. He is going to be paid well, for sure, but he is not making millions here.
RCA is the one in a pickle with all this what is happening here. They were unable to break through the "wall of US radio as well as UK radio" with Adam. Be it misjudgement on their part or rejection by that medium or both, the bottom-line is, they cannot make their money back that they have invested and that is a difficult situation for them.
And we will have to wait and see how this will shake out.
But for Adam himself it is very important that he independently from this radio mess, builds up his internationally marketable brand and he is doing that. I cannot fly to EU or ZA (South Africa) either for concerts, so I may not see Adam all the time, except on my computer, but if he does not have a successful career performing at venues all around the world, then I will not see Adam at all, and that would be terrible. The world has become a close-knit place and a concert from ZA or Ukraine sounds just as good as one from Arizona.
The stress on him for flying back and forth between the Pacific region and California constantly is of course a different matter. South America would be easier! Just saying.
