I'm not giving up on Trespassing yet (the album AND the single) but when it is almost clear that this album won't skyrocket through the roof (saleswise) it's better to look into the future for the next amazing project. Me neither. I love this album, I love this single. Trespassing still has a chance.

And I still have hope that there will be some recordings with Queen in 2013... I have this dream that Roger and Brian have some wonderful pieces of music sleeping in drawers for quite a while that are waiting to be brought to life by Adam. This would be epic in so many ways and I don't think it would destroy his soly career. But, you know, I'm just dreaming... :

This interview was before the EP was out, so maybe he just meant the EP. Or maybe he means that he hopes he gets a 3rd album, i.e., that Trespassing sells enough so that RCA wants him to do a 3rd album, once they are done with a Trespassing tour.. Anyway, it looks like he has a 5 concert tour in Japan - the same number and size as during the GNT. I think he is starting the Trespassing tour in Asia rather than in the U.S. because he currently is doing better in sales and charting in Asia. Likely they are hoping to build momentum with Trespassing the single in the U.S. before they book tour events in the U.S.
JMHO, I don't think he was referring to the current EP, from the article "he is, he jokes, 'promo-sexual', as he chats about his new EP 'Trespassing', from the album of the same title released earlier this year." He's talking about a new album, to be precise, his 3rd studio album.
(Ok, I've said this in the numbers thread before so for those frequent the thread, please bear with the "broken record" ) Based on "United World Chart", the unofficial TSP worldwide sales were estimated around 269,000 copies sold in the past 4 months, is that enough to break even or to grant him another album? Jordin Sparks's last album "Battlefield" sold 177,000 copies in the US within 1 year since its release back in 2009, but over half a million worldwide up to date, and she's working on her 3rd studio album; Daughtry, his current album "Break the Spell" sold 469,000 copies since its last Nov. release, and I highly doubt that he won't get another album. Trespassing, into its 5th month of release, will continue to sell and the bulk of the sales will probably be coming from int'l markets, which is why, IMO, Adam has been/will be doing all these selected int'l promo pushes for TSP, including one-offs and mini tours like upcoming S.A. tour and Japan tour, etc., and of course that is in addition to put some serious cash in his own pocket (hey, he's gotta make a living just like the rest of us...okay, nicer living )
Both Adam and RCA are milking the project the best they can right now. I have no doubt Adam can put together a GNT type of tour for TSP in the US or int'l, the correlation between chart hits and a successful tour is limited. BUT a drawn-out official tour like GNT might not be what RCA is looking at right now. IF they don't think the new single can help turn things around then it's in their best interest to move on with the new project.
IMO, Adam will "tour" just not anything like GNT, and he won't have that luxury of taking a year & half off to make another album, and IT IS A VERY GOOD THING IF RCA IS PUSHING HIM FOR ANOTHER ALBUM!! Yes, Yes, Yes!!! The most discouraging thing, IMO, would be if RCA let him take 3-6 months to tour supporting Trespassing. That would make me nervous in terms of his relationship with the label. If it is in fact true that they are looking ahead, it would be a VERY good thing. I think they need "something" new out by fall 2013. Whether it is a collab or "feature" or a third album, they need to get him back out there---hopefully with better timing and a better plan.

If he IS looking at a new album already, doing one-offs would be perfect. He wouldn't be on the road forever and could have time to work on the album in between, instead of putting if off until after a tour. If they're thinking about a new album, they will probably try to release it as soon as posible. I agree with you, if that's the case it will be one-offs or mini-tours while probably recording on the road. Te question is: will they give Adam the same freedom he's had with Trespassing? I guess not... :-/ My guess (since I know nothing) is that he will not be given as much creative control this time. I also don't believe he will have the luxury of time. They will want something out fall 2013, I have to think. I really think the May release, while good because it allowed for a #1 album, hurt things in the long run.

My take on the line "hopefully a new album soon".
This was said by Adam Lambert. Soon could be in 2013 or 2015. Unfortuneately for us, Adam's "soon" is usually very far away.
**
Regarding RCA, they will option a third album from Adam. But the label has no incentive to rush out a new album from Adam before they have maximized the revenue from this one.
On the third album decision -- it is not so simple as what did RCA make on the current album, it is just as much based on what they expect to make on the next album.
Regarding touring -- I have no doubt that Adam will do a tour in the US. None. It is the most profitable place for him to tour and, one thing we know about Adam, he does take care of the bottom line.

Can't agree more. I wrote this in the dark thread, but since the discussion is taking place here I am going to venture into my question here: WHY will anyone expect the next project to be received by the US radio/TV better than the EXCELLENT, critically acclaimed TP? Which leads me to the "creative control" discussion: IMO RCA involvement is the ingredient that incapacitated the whole project, i.e. it is THEIR choice of the lead and the second singles that pretty much killed the album so far. BTIKM sorta kinda made sense as a transition from WWFM, but the NCOE abomination was inexcusable. I have a strong feeling that it was shoved down Adam's throat. - again that's just my feeling ... RCA should stay as far as possible from Adam's creativity, but I do understand it is their $s....hope they are smart next time around. I really hope that the release of TP is not too late to make an impression. Both, the song and the remixes, are superb and should resonate with kids in the US and EU. HAVE YOU MADE YOUR MORNING REQUESTS?

WHY will anyone expect the next project to be received by the US radio/TV better than the EXCELLENT, critically acclaimed TP? No idea. But then again, nothing makes sense in the music biz anymore. Crap music sells, while quiality music doesn't. Which leads me to the "creative control" discussion: IMO RCA involvement is the ingredient that incapacitated the whole project, i.e. it is THEIR choice of the lead and the second singles that pretty much killed the album so far. I really hope that the release of TP is not too late to make an impression. Both, the song and the remixes, are superb and should resonate with kids in the US and EU. I think RCA is used to the normal Idol singer and they don't know how to promote and sell Adam's music. Yes, probably NCOE wasn't a smart single choice. However, I think Adam likes the song, I don't think they shoved it down his throat. Maybe they told him it was the best choice and, since they're supposed to know better, he went with it. But yes, IMHO TP should have been the second single. But well, what's done is done. TP has a chance, as I said before, so let's wait and see what happens. Adam won't be one of those artists who disappear from the music business, of that I'm absolutely sure. So I don't really worry. ETA: I worry about seeing him live, though. lol I wanna see him liiiiiive!!!! I want him to come to Europe!!!!

I don't want to predict, that Trespassing as a single won't have success, but to be honest, I am ready for new stuff - I would die for new songs : So I think playing one-offs in different countries would be perfect instead of a big and worldwide TP-tour. I hope this time his plans will lead him to South-America - I think he hasn't been there before and he has a lot of passionate fans there! Have to add a bit to this - on one of the music loops on my Copa Airlines flight yesterday between Panama City and Lima, I heard BTIKM. It was a surprise - may have been other songs on other loops - don't know - but it was an omg moment and I did a little seat dancing. ;D
