Finally caught up...loved his little twitter "ramblings" and these two stood out for me, for no particular reason:
Adam Lambert @adamlambert @trespassmyass no, I want to write New songs for the next album.
Adam Lambert @adamlambert I mean, who's driving? Me or you guys? Hahah I guess we are constantly negotiating that. the record label is paying for the car though.
Isn't he just precious?!
That mini twitter party was beyond adorable!

The music biz is a business, foremost! It's never about who's the greatest singer or live singer. It's a consumer product that involves marketing, PR, finance, promotion, and of course quality of the goods (with today's technology, that's an easy fix as sad as it may be but a reality to stay), and the right time and right place, and a little bit of luck goes a long way, too.
Adam's time will come... But weren't past superstars/legends like Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Elvis, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand (who I will be seeing this Monday along with Il Vivo) etc., etc. known for their extraordinary live vocals? I think autotune has just ruined music. Nowadays someone who cannot sing can be a superstar. It really breaks my heart that the best live singer in the world is struggling so much. No superstars/legends, past or present, have ever achieved mega commercial success without the machine of BUSINESS! Some of them just happen/happened to deliver the genuine goods. Also, a singer can't sing live well doesn't mean he/she can not sing. In Taylor's case, she's got a decent voice but her real talent, IMO, is her song writing, the rest is all the incredible work of show biz wonder, and the girl does work hard, too. Talent alone does not grant you success, let alone mega commercial success but without the talent there's no product; when you have a genuine mega talent in your hands, then sky is the limit if you know what/how to do with it. (side eyeing the record label... ) I don't know if Adam is the best live singer in the world but since I'm a biased Glambert and music is so subjective, I think I'll just go with it ;D

IMHO Adam is doing what he wants to do... He is SINGING, here there and everywhere...He is building a big fan base all over the world. Again longevity is the goal... I keep going back to the video, when Adam was a teen and he said he would be a happy man if he could keep singing to big& to small audiences anywhere and everywhere.
Adam is living his dream and we ,his fans, are lucky enough to be invited into his successful, fulfilling dream.

I have been 'monitoring' four biggest commercial radio stations in Finland together with non-commercial YleX (and sometimes YleXtrem or X3M which is a lot smaller but national swedish-speaking station) and posting short updates of Adam spins in the main thread. Talking about statistics I thought it would be best to post this here. All these 'monitored' are 'music stations' and have a wide coverage in the country (although YleX is the only one that can be heard everywhere). In her post ninaballerina said that Radio Nova is 'the biggest radio station in Finland' which lead me to check some statistics. My monitoring choices were based on my experience and I assumed that the commercial ones I picked were almost equal but that non-commercial YleX would be the biggest. Actually Radio Nova is the biggest when all listeners are summed up but it is due to its wide range of music and popularity among young children and their parents listening to it. When we take the IMO most relevant music-buying age groups 15-24 and 25-34 (combining them = 200%), there YleX is still the biggest with 33%, NRJ second with 30% and Nova third with 19%. The three other stations: The Voice has 11%, Aalto 6% and X3M 6% of listeners in these two age groups combined. These stations account for 52,5% (105% out of 200%) of the listeners in the age groups combined. The remaining 47,5% of these two age groups listen mainly to the traditional Radio Suomi (speech, sports, theme programmes, local news etc) or Radio Rock or SuomiPOP (=Finnish pop/rock/punk/rap/reggae/everything) or Iskelmä (schlager ~trad Finnish contemporary and 'good' oldies which is like our 'country' but consisting of ball room dance rhythms and melodramatic love song lyrics). Source www.finnpanel.fi/tulokset/radio/krt/2012/22/kanavaosuusikaryhma.html(survey in June-August 2012, percentages by age groups, 9-year-olds and older, total population in the target group 4816000, not mentioned here but I read somewhere else that their survey is based on a group of about 5000 people) All IMO below: In May Sony was hitting hardest to The Voice and NRJ with NCOE. I didn't find any spin stats to prove this but they gave a fair amount of spins to NCOE during the first few weeks. When they were almost done Nova and YleX stepped up and spinned a lot, especially Nova did a great job. In general, Aalto and The Voice seem to be the steadiest spinners of Adam's music in keeping the oldies but goodies in their playlist - daily. Maybe Nova is the biggest supporter all in all but more volatile (surges of new singles but going back to play WWFM only). YleX and NRJ do concentrate on 'hits' of the day only. What happens/happened with Trespassing is quite unclear to me having been busy in RL during the last few weeks. What I can say off the cuff is that there is not much promo for it, it gets played but not as much as NCOE. However, I seem to remember that Nova had TP in power play soon after the release. What is disppointing is that it has not been added to YleX playlist/voting. I hope that I have time during the weekend to monitor the playlists to get a picture where we are now.

Thank you, belle, for the detailed stats and analysis!
Is Adam at Taylor's level of mega success(since this whole convo sorta started in that context)? No, he is not; is he a success? You betcha!! What is his ultimate goal? we can all draw our own conclusions from what he's said in public or speculate from what we think we know about him, either way, he's lucky than most to be able to continue working towards that goal and to fulfill many of his potentials (not just music), and we're lucky to have discovered such a gem and to be entertained, enlightened and inspired by such a unique, exciting and beautiful being!

I hope no one takes offense to this, or feels slighted because I value you all. But I just want to say, "Maddie, I love having you around here!"

kinda OT but amusing to some of us number geeks and is in the line of success talk we had earlier...
Born to Die by Lana Del Rey, released on Jan. 27 2012, is this year's No. 3 highest selling album in the world, so far, at 2,427,000 copies sold worldwide. Guess how many are the US sales? 382,229, per last week's Billboard.
And...this is what Rey said about her success:
"I learned that there's no reason why people decide they like music when they do. Even if you're the best singer in the world, there's a good chance no one will ever hear you. You make a decision to keep singing or to stop. I've been singing in Brooklyn since I was 17 and no one in the industry cared at all. I haven't changed a thing since then and yet things seem to be turning around for me. Perhaps the angels decided to shine on me for a little while."
