Hold On is like OOL but different. It is equally powerful but in a different way, maybe even more so IMO. This is Adam's rally cry. It starts with a siren sound, and makes so many references to fighting (sleeves up, bulletproof, defeat us, rock n roll with the punches, lights out..) that it's hard to deny it's message is to fight back. The tone he uses, the references to "them" and "us", the battle cries in this one compared to the wails in OLL. Wow. Sure this could be made into an upbeat dance track-isn't that what everything is supposed to be?- but it would be sad, and maybe impossible to downplay the serious message this song makes. IKR!!! Wonderfully noticed and said! I'm speechless. This sentiment, recurring on "Trespassing", is as repetitive as an alarm siren. I don't know what to say. In that wonderful 102.9 interview ( 1029now.com/player/?mid=22581785#.UJAXluCu3vQ.twitter … ), where he talks about his writing, he says that the fans sometimes add meaning to his words which is not there, but sometimes it just flies over their heads, something he wanted to say... I think I have taken his need for belonging to the (music) world too lightly... or being widely accepted, not feeling getting bounced off the invisible walls, because there are restrictions on his paths. When Adam sings, it's such a powerful roar, and he is imposing physically, that the softness of his speaking voice comes as such a wonderful surprise. And sometimes he is saying important stuff with that soft voice of his, but he seldom accentuates it... you have to guess on your own, figure it out. Or listen to his songs:) The McEwan brothers talked how calm he is, not gesticulating much, focused... So he poured it all into "Trespassing", let it all go... Also, there ( the interview) he says how glad he is that his fans make friends with each other, finding a sense of community which he did not have... Implying that he has it now and I know he does, but he also needs to be the citizen of the world as anyone else, and he can never be that unless he has the rights as anyone else... The song is intense, Adam is intense, his album is intense and he can never and will never be elevator music... suitable as background music for hair-salons and beauty parlours and food chains... I'm gonna go now, since I got too excited and that's never a good thing... |

Holy crap, I just inspired myself with my own post. Went back to listen one more time and that first line that just didn't sound right as "All/I'm alone", now I think I got it: Armour on, headstong, now we're on a mission Fight boy, fight! Or just the fierce fang look?
Adam is hauling around the "tail" again...of what animal I do not know???
I have to laugh when I see him wearing it!! What the heck does he do with it.... when he sits a sofa sure it can lay beside him...at a concert I guess he could lay it in on his lap and stroke it like a kitty!!
Or pretend it is a daschund. If he had a dog he said he would like a daschund. I recommend a long haired daschund...beauiful fur/hair...very strokeable.

They are "works of art". Do you create/do anything like this for work? Sometimes loving what we do for our avocation is not what we do for our vocation ...just wondering.
You blow me away...I cannot even pic favorites anymore.
