All is love I'm sorry for spamming you guys with my silly thoughts. I just wanted to clarify what I meant earlier. My posts do look a lot more angsty than what I actually feel. I'm here writing with a smile on my face.#changeofsubject

Just wanted to bring this over from yesterday's thread and respond: Hi Nina Ballerina and Welcome! So great to have another Finnish fan here. I just had to respond to your comment from yesterday because I know from first hand experience how hard it is to translate nuances of accents and languages. I have friends around the world and soo much of the nuance is lost in translation it can be very frustrating. I am also responding because I am personally fascinated by those things that are "lost in translation" and believe the subtleties in life are important. Here is the truth from one U.S. woman's point of view: Adam's mimic of Sauli's voice did not sound at all feminine to me. Funny enough to me it sounded like a scandinavian accent with an Irish brogue but definitely not at all effeminate. From where I stand Sauli looks and has never stopped coming across as a very strong, down to earth, grounded yet extremely open minded and fun person. The duo of Adam and Sauli is an extremely powerful one. They seem to strengthen each other. I guess while I hope and believe it is true, I do not know if Adam is an empowering force for Sauli since I did not know Sauli before Adam. That would be something that one of Sauli's Finnish fans from before Adam would best be able to tell. Adam has never once referenced Sauli verbally as though he is more effeminate. (Anyone can please feel free to disagree and give examples) Truth be told, though I would not know exactly what Adam thinks as I am not Adam, I do not think Adam himself looks at feminine as weaker, whether that be his own feminine side, or anyone elses. Adam's social communication and connection ability in general could be seen as a feminine strength. The degree of his communication/social connection ability is rare to find in traditional men. So, I see this feminine quality in Adam as a show of great strength. I also see Adam's HBIC persona as an extremely powerful feminine side. Adam has in fact intimated that Sauli is very strong willed and can most certainly stand his own with Adam. This is part of why I think he and Adam work so well together. I have a feeling Sauli has his own HBIC thing going ; ) In fact I think in order to hold his own with Adam, Sauli absolutely had to have a strong feminine side. The only person that ever gave me any inkling that Sauli's accent might come across as at all feminine was someone else from Finland who said Sauli's communication as seen by other Fins was slightly feminine. For me, this kind of verbal nuance is most definitely lost in translation. To me I just saw Sauli as Sauli, adorable, well adjusted, confident, outgoing, funny. I just hope for Sauli that he truly gets to manifest his own talents to the utmost because I think he is really talented. There was one video where he put on all these different outfits and spoke in different accents and he was absolutely hilarious. I am sure there are other lesser public talents that we do not have to know. It is not the fame and publicity that matters of course. It is what makes Sauli truly happy. It must be hard for Sauli fans to see him with someone of greater public fame and see Sauli perhaps a little bit less confident because he is not on his own Finnish turf with his native language. Bits and pieces come through about Sauli through Adam interviews, like the fact that Adam loves Sauli greatly, but very little of the details about Sauli. So, a full picture of who Sauli is will not be painted by or through Adam which could be frustrating from a Finnish Sauli fan point of view. But I think we all would agree that it is a good thing that Adam keeps his relationship somewhat private. I think it takes a very strong person to be in Sauli's position, the boyfriend of someone, Adam, who has become a household name and is famous now around the world. As an Adam fan who believes Sauli is very special, I wish for Sauli to have all the support that Adam gets to encourage the blooming of his talents such that he does not feel diminished in anyway. Sauli and Adam are both beautiful, kind, outgoing, talented people. What they found together is very special. I think Adam's fans only want the very best for both Adam AND Sauli. Thanks again everyone for welcoming me even though I brought a lot of strange opinions with me. ;D I'm catching up on the thread but wanted to answer to this comment because I pretty much agree with it all. I liked all the other responses to my comment as well but this one was so thoughtful that I wanted to answer. I might not have explained this properly in my original post, but I never meant that I would see Adam treating Sauli as a weaker half. I meant that to me it seemed like in interviews he sometimes unintentionally left the interviewer with that though. Sauli is not known in the US and people are only interested in him as Adam's boyfriend. I agree with pretty much everything you wrote about their relationship. Us Finns know that Sauli was and is a VERY confident person and so comfortable in his own skin (except that he would like to be a little taller ). They are perfect for each other and I'm by no means denying that Sauli wouldn't also have his feminine side. However, Adam can get a little macho. He is proud of his relationship with Sauli and so in love that he wants to talk about it (Sauli is proud of the relationship too, he doesn't say it directly but he gives away hints). Sometimes Adam however imo takes it too far. There are interviews like the Ryan Seacrest interview from the beginning of the year where Adam jokingly talks about meeting Sauli as "groupie action". We fans know that Sauli didn't even know that Adam was in Finland the night they met, but to a random listener it will seem like Sauli was some groupie that just happily left with the big rock star. Then there are the those moments in concerts when Adam imitates Sauli's noises during sex (Wilkes Barre after Broken English before Naked love) or says he isn't getting enough twat (Benefit for marriage equality) . I love Adam and I know he has a stage persona that has nothing to do with his real personality but I hope you guys get what I meant. I'm not worried about their private relationship. It obviously couldn't be more happy, silly, equal, strong and filled with love. Sauli is there to support Adam in any way he can, but I guess he will have to get used to the idea that some people outside the fandom will think of him as the housewife (if they think of him at all). Ps. The accent discussion is interesting. To me Adam's voice sounds feminine but if all of you hear is a bad accent, then I couldn't be happier. ;D I'm really glad you brought up these points because, If you think these things, probably others from Finland are thinking the same thing or interpreted things in the same manner. So, I love that you are explaining this to us... I hope you don't mind my responding again. : ) ninaballerina : However, Adam can get a little macho. Skylar: I never got that sense that Sauli was a groupie from anything Adam ever said in interviews, and I've see a huge (I'm not proud to say) number of interviews! I must have missed the interview you are talking about or maybe it was easy to misunderstand what was being said. I always got the sense, from what Adam says in interviews, that Sauli was a good choice for Adam in part because he was and is NOT a groupie. Because he is famous in his own right in Finland and because he knew and knows how to deal with the spotlight and media and was never overwhelmed by Adam's fame. Adam has said on more than a few occasions that Sauli understood what he was dealing with when it came to being in the spotlight and that was a relief for him. ninaballerina : Then there are the those moments in concerts when Adam imitates Sauli's noises during sex (Wilkes Barre after Broken English before Naked love)Skylar: I hope you don't take this the wrong way because this really made me laugh. Adam has been making outrageous sex noises on stage way before he met Sauli. He was making sex noises on stage when he didn't have a boyfriend. He just loves to make sex noises on stage and turn everyone on. Quite successfully might I add. Adam is a master sex noise maker. I can understand how you might interpret Adams sex noises now as Sauli sex noises but that never even occured to me for a second. To me it is always just Adam doing the Adam sex noise thing, breathing, moaning, high pitched sighs, you name it. Turning people on is a huge part of Adams rock thang and always has been, probably starting with Hair, but most certainly with Zodiac and Art for Life. Adam can virtually bring people to orgasm through singing. He thrives on turning people on. I truly can understand how it might be hard as a Sauli fan but please do know that this is what Adam does and has always done. He expresses sexuality openly in song and dance and that is part of what makes him so progressive and exciting in our more conservative society. That Adam, a gay man and the first openly gay man to land number one on the Billboard charts, is freely and openly expressing his sexuality is so good and healthy for our society. ninaballerina : or says he isn't getting enough twat (Benefit for marriage equality). Skylar: Adam is incredibly open that he is not at all interested in "twat" ( ) in any way shape or form. He jokes and he plays a part for his female fans for the fun of it and because they love it. But, every female and male fan knows that Adam is fully gay. So, if he did say he wasn't getting enough twat. It would be truly funny and we would only roll our eyes and laugh. ninaballerina : I love Adam and I know he has a stage persona that has nothing to do with his real personality but I hope you guys get what I meant. Maybe there is some broken english going on here. Why would you think Adam is imitating Sauli during sex and not just making the sounds Adam makes during sex. That's what I get from "Broken English" and man it might be my favorite part of the song. Hate that he has turned that part of the song into a guitar solo for Tommy. :-/ Would have to watch the videos again, but Adam refers to when he tweets a lot, as his "twats" and when people tweet to him. You may have misunderstood that completely. Yes. When Adam defined a 'tweet', which is a message sent on twitter, as a 'twat' - it occasioned some discussion even on this site. We have become inured to the reference but if you were not a native speaker and did not understand the definition from its previous context, i.e. a tweet, then you would look it up in a dictionary and be somewhat chagrined. Broken English might ensue.
