Just cuz it is a slow day and Adam's voice is one in ten million..... Late last night someone posted a raw feed of Kesha singing something or other. It was remarkably...... not good. Remarkably like a teenager singing along with their iPod wearing the ear buds so all you hear is their voice; exuberant, but a little painful. Listening, you get a deeper understanding of how much many pop singers' voices are manufactured in the studio; not just autotune, but tone, texture, richness, strength, presence added through electronic manipulation. We all know that Adam eschews autotune live or in the studio. That he sounds even better live than on the studio recordings where the producers did too much to the sound and covered the voice. Still, when Adam performs, he has a sound guy mixing the feed from the mic, adding reverb, adding echo, and probably tweaking the frequencies. So, how much of Adam live is Adam unadorned? For that answer, you need to go back and watch his Idol audition once more. (I know, it is a hardship, but you can do it one more time.) No backing track, no accompaniment to keep him on key, no mic to amplify a weak note or to add resonance to a flat tone. Just the voice all by itself. If you can, close your eyes so as not to get distracted by the pretty, and just LISTEN. THAT is the voice that makes Adam a one in a million singer. There are plenty of talented singers,not Adam's caliber ,but much better than the junk on the radio.How does a kesha or even a katty Perry make it??? I mean if we just look at Adam's friends ... why oh why can't they get a head. I think anyone of us could make a hit record with the right equipment behind us.. It's depressing.. Thank god for Adam. Last Night I watched a PBS special from the White House on Motown .They had some serious talent, one from Idol,one from Glee and then some of the Motown group. It was so good to hear the Motown standards. I so wanted Adam to be one of the performers,especially for the Tracks of My Tears number. I have for the most part given up on radio,except when I know that Adam will be on. |

I'm hoping Adam does more dancing in his next videos!!!!! Wonder if he's taking dance lessons......for that matter, wondering if he's taking acting lessons and still working with his vocal coach too!!!! Soooooooo excited for album #2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man! [rubs hands in projected anticipation] You know, Cassidy talks about going to dance class all the time. Wouldn't it be sooooooooo cool (I'm daydreaming, shaddup) if Adam was taking dance classes with Cassidy.....both for him and all the other peeps in the class?!!!   ^^^THIS^^^ ITA! that would be amazing :D |

But every time I see this video, I have to chortle at the bland idiocy of the intro: whazername: "You know, the beginning is where it all started..." Ace: "Definitely!" LOLLLLL for ever. Can't disagree with you there, babes. Definitely. Things do tend to start at the beginning. Deep. Love the seriousbizness tone with which Ace concurs, like he's just heard the Word. Can I get an AMEN brutha? ;D RE: Britney. ITA it's weird about her dancing. I just went back and watched the GMA clip you guys were talking about a few days ago, that I hadn't had time to watch then. Really odd feeling performance. She just looked lost--a total tool in a machine much bigger than she is. But I have to hand it to them--that is one well-oiled, gleaming machine. I've only heard the two singles, but based on those it sounds to me, like the music or not, like this is one masterfully produced and put together album. It is slick and chink-free. Really interesting window into how the business functions at its most product-oriented levels. |
