Adam has had some wonderful international gigs like SA and now China with its huger than huge audience and more is coming up I was wondering if there has been any indication yet that this in stimulating international sales? I am hoping that he will go the route of Lana del Rey who has tepid sales in US and gigantic sales abroad. She did hit big in UK though. In any case, I bet he is pocketing some serious coin.
Lana Del Rey is another anomaly like Adele, granted not even remotely close to Adele's scale, but the night-and-day difference between her int'l sales and domestic makes her the "oddball" among this year's top sellers. As of last week, Born To Die's estimated worldwide total sales are 2,574,000 units which puts her at #3 position in the world, right behind Adele and One Direction, and of which 408,326 are US sales, which still is a decent figure, considering current #10 best selling SoundScan Album is only a little over 750,000 in the US. For some reason, her image, her singing, her album, everything about her has clicked big-time with int'l audiences, particularly Europeans: her album has been certified gold & platinum in 11 European countries, of which Germany platinum, UK 2x platinum and France 3x platinum! Some of us may find it quite unfathomable, maybe it's simple as herself put it, "Perhaps the angels decided to shine on me for a little while."
Both FYE's and TSP's (so far) int'l sales and domestic sales are pretty close. IMO, the US will always be the biggest market for Adam as far as album/single sales, unless the same "angels" decided to shine upon him as well, 'cuz unfortunately Asia, as huge as it is in terms of population and size, is NOT a market for music sales at all but a hugely lucrative one for concerts! Which is why I have a feeling that Adam will wind up making way more $$$$ this era for himself than FYE era, despite his not so great album sales. I think DMG has been doing a phenomenal job exploring/exploiting Asian markets and other Adam hotspots (South Africa, Finland, Russia, etc.), which will make Adam come out smelling like a rose!
ETA: I do check Media Traffic every so often, I will post next week's and the following one's worldwide sales # here, as of last week, TSP stands at 303,000 units sold, per Media Traffic.

And Minaj is off the Top 50 her 2nd week! That's because her fans aren't stupid. Most of the tracks on "The Re-Up" were already on her previous album; "The Re-Up" has only a handful of new songs, which fans could just buy individually on Itunes. This ew.com article has a good overview of what happened regarding her sales. Nicki, of course, blamed her low sales on retailers not carrying the album. I guess retailers aren't stupid either. music-mix.ew.com/2012/11/26/nicki-minaj-walmart-target-pink-friday/

Nicki's Re-Up sold 12,000 copies this week, per Chart News, the debut number is 36,000 but I don't think these sales matter to her or are signs of her decline, yet. The tell-all signs will come next year when she releases her next album.
Oh, here is what Walmart spokesperson said, "We do not carry any music that has a parental advisory label on it. However, we carry edited versions of those music titles. That album did not come with an edited option, so that's why Walmart isn't carrying that album."

This is pretty dire!! With a good single out, tons of radio play, and at one of the best times of year, KE$HA is only projected to sell 80-85K. :-/

Eggnog! Presents! Cookies! More Eggog! That's what it sounds like in our heads these days, but we may as well go on pretending to work while the boss is around.
Hey, here's an idea: You ask us about next week's likely sales numbers, and we'll pretend to know something about that.
O.N.I.F.C., the very latest offering from Atlantic's Wiz Khalifa, is on course to sell somewhere in the 135-145k range, making it a contender for #1 next week against chart stalwarts Rod Stewart (Verve) and Taylor Swift (Big Machine).
How will the week's other new releases stack up? We're glad you asked. RCA's Ke$ha should be able to afford plenty of whiskey-flavored toothpaste with an 80-85k bow, while Big Machine/Republic country beau hunks Florida Georgia Line chug into the holidays with a 50-55k debut.

I think the mediocre sales are likely a one-time event; as I mentioned earlier, I just think a lot of her fans already own most of the songs, so they didn't see any reason to buy the album. I expect that the next album of wholly new material from Nicki will likely do well -- it will be interesting to see whether she gets a bump from being on American Idol. As we've seen, not everyone gets a sales lift from being a reality show judge (see Christina Aguilera).

I know we're kinda searching for schadenfreude on this thread now, but did anyone else get a kick outta reading this quote from Nicki's "spin"? “So it’s very difficult and it kind of sets you up to fail,” she added, explaining that a number of her fans “have been driving hours – literally hours! — to get one CD. ... " We might be OTT, but we're not THAT crazy to drive hours to get a CD of old material and filler. Right? Riiiighhht??!!!

And, while she might not have a splashy debut week, she will probably get 6 or 7 singles and, as a result, the album will have legs.

LOL! that wasn't my intent to bring in the industry numbers, but guess being a spectator is always much more fun when you don't have a horse in the race, right?! I know I enjoy my little weekly monotone commentary to the BB & DD charts immensely! ;D
