Whether it's him still in his "Melvin" headspace or a deliberation, it's absolutely brilliant of Adam to keep the scruffy Melvin look for the MAMA performance, setting himself apart from a sea of Asian Barbies & Kens and looking like the BADASS MAN!
Great performance and huge exposure! Looking forward to checking the numbers next week!!
P.S. In case you're wondering about the Barbie & Ken reference, South Korea has now overtaken Brazil and become the plastic surgery capital of the world!

Hear, Hear! That is exactly what I was thinking. Standout in the best kind of way.

I checked yesterday on Asian's views of facial hair. Whether or not it is taboo. If you look at ancient pictures many of the warriors had facial hair, but in the form of a goatee that was really long. I don't think Asian men have the capability of growing facial hair. It is sparse and wirey, as they have very coarse hair. So if I had been Adam, I would have stayed away from the facial hair in Asia. But Adam is Adam, and always looking for a new look. I much prefer a hairless face on him and for all the focus to be on his mane. I don't think it's taboo, but I do think they prefer clean shaven faces. And they CAN grow facial hair, of course they can. I've seen many Asian people with facial hair! But I haven't seen Pop artists with facial hair...
LOL...of course, they can! They just prefer clean shave, and it's also a respect and profession thing just like there're certain jobs here in the States (imagine somewhere else as well) requiring a clean shave look. But, I'll say it's a lot easier for the young Caucasian men to grow facial hair than their Asian counterparts.

He will always choose to stand out, not blend in. This look was a deliberate move on his part. Why would he not want to be 100% fierce American Adam. He does opposites a lot. Even back to Idol. Dance tune week he does a ballad. Movie tune week when everyone does ballads, he does BTBW! The man plans, right down to packing contacts to complete his Red Carpet look! WHO DOES THAT??!!!!!! I have never seen anyone more fun and interesting to follow!

My father travels to China a lot on business, and he always shaves to go over there (he usually has a beard).
