I'm coming out of lurking because I felt the need to share about the Johnny homophobic comments. If a gay guy says he wants nothing to do with vajayjay, we're all ok with that. It's ok to state that someone finds Johnny's dancing creepy. I find it a turn off, I'm not homophobic just don't like watching him. I think it's safe to say that most of us find Adam and his "masculine" vibe a turn-on. My teenage son (who I've subjected to endless videos of Adam) has gotten to a point where he likes some of Adams music and dare I say style. I played the videos from Shanghai and he left during Fever...too much for his taste. He is straight, he has gay friends but just doesn't like watching anything that overtly gay....that doesn't make him homophobic. If Adam wants to reach the young pop market/radio market - which he clearly wants desparately; he may need to look at the taste of this demographic. Very strong subject and great outcome to make people delurk! Warmly Welcome! Happy to see you here!Glad to hear your son is liking some Adam music! And about him not liking anything overtly gay, I believe as said already many times in this thread, that at least partly it is about exposure. Like I was uncomfortable to see people kiss when I was quite young, and now not at all .

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, about singers, dancers, and band members... Adam will hire the people he wants to work with, whether they are popular or not with fans.. Remember some fans had complaints about the dancers for his first go around with For Your Entertainment.. Adam said he was going to keep them, They were his friends,he liked traveling with them,etc... done. Remember when some complained about a band member or two.. Adam's response.. sorry. I guess the man will do what the man wants to do and if that makes a fan unhappy then they have a choice of watching or not watching... Just saying.I guess going around in circles can be fun though.

With all the discussion today I have been reminded of the Sirius interview Adam did in NYC after the AMA's (I've tried to imbed but...we'll see if it works). At 2:30 speaking of the lyrics in Soaked, Adam mentions the diverse people the lyrics could encompass and says "or Tranny" and I've never forgotten that moment. It was a total revelation of the loving human being he is. I love the sweetness of that interview. youtu.be/vnoDWvUNiBQ<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vnoDWvUNiBQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I disagree completely, though. IMO, Adam should NEVER censor himself for the sake of a demographic. And I don't think he needs to change to appeal to the young demographic, actually; in my experience, the younger generations are generally more accepting nowadays. Either people liking his music will get over it (which they will if they really like him), or they will leave. But of course he should keep doing whatever the heck he feels he needs to do. He's the artist, it's his vision.

I don't comment often because I'm not a diplomatic person and you need major skills that I don't possess to engage in a dialogue here. Some comments yesterday and today have been very enlightening. However it's never a good idea to make a blanket statement as you can only speak for yourself and the 'masculine' comment in no way reflects my opinion. It falls into the 'alpha male' category which is one of my major (personal) gripes. I understand your son's feelings which are extremely common in young straight males but he does not represent a whole generation. With the possible exception of the US, the majority of Adam's fans appear to be mainly of the younger demographic and they appear to have no reservations. I'm sorry to respond so negatively but to be honest your post has been the final straw on a very disappointing day (again speaking personally).

IMHO you are painting with a very broad brush here. I myself find Adam a turn on for many reasons, one being that he seamlessly embodies both the masculine and the feminine. The other reasons include his voice, how he interprets a song, his intellect, his sense of humour, his fashion sense, his ability to change his look, his fearlessness.... I could go on and on. Also, not all of the younger demographic have the same 'tastes' as your son. Lastly, if Adam did 'move' on stage and in life, more like Johnny, would you still be a fan?

In sum, 1. Some will. 2. Some won't. 3. Speak out. 4. Or don't.
Ergo: Adam will continue to be the sexy beast he is and express himself with whomever and however he wants.
