Thanks, mys*&@^#r!! I was gonna bring over the same original article, you beat me to it!
I think the blogger from "bmlawgroup" just used the term 360 loosely, 'cuz in essence, the Idol contract works pretty much like a 360 deal. Quoting Q3 from last May, "Adam does not have a 360 degree deal with Sony Music Entertainment/RCA. Adam has close to a 360 degree deal with 19 -- it covers record deal, concerts, appearances, merchandising, etc. RCA has all recorded music, videos, ringtones, all recorded music sales, music licensing and radio."
Uurrhh, if so, is Adam in danger as the label hasn't profited from album sales? Can he tour? Who will pay for the tour? Sure he can tour. Just like he did with GNT. The label doesn't pay for a tour. They sometimes give what is called "tour support" money which basically is money that gets billed against the album project anyway. But Adam has probably been building a tour fund with all these one off shows he's been doing. Depending on how the tour is structured he might not even have to put up money of his own. A lot depends on how the deals with promoters and venues work. There are many, many different ways that a tour is financed and different possibilities for who is taking the financial risk. Bottom line though is that Adam is a proven live draw regardless of how the album is doing. That can be seen by the response to the one off gigs so his ability to tour is not dependent on the album selling but rather on demand for tickets. He may not be able to go bigger than GNT but I see no reason that he can't tour on that scale again. Given the fact that from what we are seeing of the international dates shows he is opening up in to new markets and increasing venue size in some markets (like Finland) I think he's doing fine with respect to touring.

So much Adam goodness today. ICU Sauli in the picture. Two of Adam's loves.....Sauli and his blue Alexander McQueen shirt! This is the original photo, taken in London after one of the Queen shows. They are reflected in round mirrors and you can also see Eber and Neil. t.co/PTjgZwND

Hi Jazzhands, sorry for the loss of your great uncle. I lost my best friend to AIDS in 2005, he had been HIV positive since early 1980s. I still miss him every day too! Best man I've ever known besides my dad. Thank you, lulu, for your kind words. It was the old Donahue video of the Club Kids from the Limelight...it kind of made me a little verklempt this morning. I thought I'd watched just about everything lingering on youtube that's related to my uncle. But this one surprised me. I'm sorry for the pain of your loss. Your friend sounds like a special man. Edited to Add: Thank you also soeulmate and albiku. Sorry for your loss

Do they put money up to pay expenses for the artist against ticket sales?

Uurrhh, if so, is Adam in danger as the label hasn't profited from album sales? Can he tour? Who will pay for the tour? ' Minor update to the comment I made last May -- referenced above. Adam's management deal with 19 has expired. He is now with DMG. ** Who says the label hasn't made money on Trespassing? Technically the label is probably still in the red on this project -- but a label P&L includes all kinds of overhead allocations. 305K units at $9 wholesale cost is $2.7 million + track sales + licensing + other revenues....I think RCA is just fine. Plus, they are not done yet. Promoters will fund the tour as they do most tours, with some support from the label and probably some funds from the upcoming international concerts. If he funds part of the tour, Adam will make more money. Adam is completely bankable at this point. ETA: rihannsu just saw your post -- I should have waited and just posted -- ITA. Sponsors pay part of tour expenses in exchange for promotional consideration -- advertising, VIP packages, etc.
