I just finished watching Divas on the West Coast, and I am just thrilled by how awesome Adam was. Opening skit could not have been more charming, funny or endearing. Who could not love him after seeing that? Hosting duties again an A+. Loved all the costume changes, and he looked gorgeous in all of them because he has that FACE. Singing as always was great. Honestly I was a little afraid to watch ROL, but I loved it very much. Maybe I have a tin ear, but I thought he sounded great and powerful just a little at at first. Loved the complete oddness of the tunic with the beautiful Russian writing. A complete win of an evening for him. Oh was it Russian? Yes, nica translated a few pages back!!! It was like weird Russian poetry or lyrics or something!

The sound for that beginning was completely off in the theatre. I couldn't hrear anything. Then I heard Adam being "off." I think there was a technical glitch and nothing was going into Adam's ears or the audience! It was very quick though. And that's the explanation, everyone. The TV got the sound, but Adam and the theater didn't. How weird it is

ROL. IMHO, the key is not the problem. It fits his voice just fine. Since Adam is a Diva, and since he was working with Ricky Minor, I am sure he picked the key. The biggest problem was that Adam couldn't FUCKING HEAR in order to be on pitch at the beginning. He knew it. It was live, he couldn't do anything about it. The show must go on. But, he looked supremely uncomfortable. Once they fixed whatever the sound problem was, he got on track and got into it.
The other problem, again IMHO, is the song itself. It's got a great dance beat. Can imagine peeps head pumping in the clubs. But, musically, it's just not interesting. There isn't much to it in terms of melody, arc, variety, or musical development throughout the song. It sounds repetitive. And, what are the lyrics about? I don't get a sense of emotion, of story, of a point to them. Adam is a great lyrical and musical interpreter, but I don't think there is much to work with in ROL. YMMV

8-) He needs his own show. I loved ROL- it one of my favorite Madonna songs, loved his version. Sure the sound was a little wonky the first few lines... So what ? That's live TV. Over all, it was great. loved the tunic- There was plenty of sequins and leather tonight, His tunic was the only creative choice in the nights fashions.

He looked awkwardly uncomfortable at the beginning . He knew he was off key. But he had to sing it through anyway. Funny thing is they got no sound in the monitor AND in theater. But we hear it on TV?
