I saw the tweet too and it raised my eyebrows. Only because I am of the gender and age bracket that the word was always used in a negative context. However, I have never been educated about gay culture until now, and never did I think Adam would intend the word as a diss to females. I think it is far better to help educated those that may be offended (I am not as I was educated about this term the last time he used it), rather than the in-fighting (well the board is not really fighting as much as turning on some of its members and I couldn't come up with a better word at the moment.) What I am getting at is that we should help each other, and/or those outside the fandom, understand what Adam's context may be. It doesn't diminish ones own opinion of the word to them personally, but the mood of he board in regard to his use of the word is what makes me the most sad. We are a community here, and should help each other progress and feel comfort and understanding to move forward. Do I personally like the word, no... would I use the word, no... Am I glad he used that word, no... Am I upset Adam used the word now that I better understand its use in his culture, NO... I don't want to see anyone leave the fandom over a word

If there were people on twitter acting all shocked and hurt and offended and demanding he remove it, I stand by my words. I haven't seen one person on twitter say anything about it. Not one! Everyone I follow has just been flailing about ow excited he is about the show. Skylar, he is going to use the word again. Over the next ten years, he might use it 20 times! If you can't overcome your strong feelings about the word, then I agree. How can you be a fan? I think you can dislike things about Adam and still be a fan. Words are interesting. When I described a dancer's actions as simpering those words were not well liked either. We all have our triggers and we work them out online. Skylar, it's good to stick up for yourself. I'm very sorry for what I perceive to be a very horrific situation that you associate the word with. I'm ok with it in the way it was used and to whom it was used but perfectly understandable if you are not.

Hmmm.
For me, skylar, it is an interesting language issue. Nothing more. I don't think I've ever been called that (that I know of, anyway!) so there is no heat there for me, no hurt.
It is different for you, I see, and I am so sorry. I always enjoy your spirit and your personality here.

Thanks Skylar and Alison...no offense taken albiku. We all draw our preferred lines in our own sand and those lines and the sand differs for each of us. I am actually more offended by the continual calling our and putting down of other fans because they do not think the same as another....their sand lines differ...as if fan stanning were a zero sum game. All is well. We all love the same wonderful man and we have so much to celebrate at the moment... OTT sidebar: I think I must have completely lost my mind. I have spent the last 3 hours going through every box I could think of looking for the fur collar that attaches to my winter coat. I am going where it is cold for xmas so need to haul it out of mothballs...could not find...So in frustration I go to hang the coat up and out of the sleeve falls the fur collar!!!!! Good bloody grief... so I guess that means you can take my words with that proverbial grain of salt...yikes You're going to a place that is colder then where you already are? Hey, I looked all day for my folding table. Looked everywhere. After the 5th or so trip out to the garage, I brought in a wrench.......and layed it down on the folding table that I had been looking for all day -- right there, in my kitchen, walked by it every time I went out to the garage. Adam on my mind..... HAHAHA I live on a small island in temperate rain forest...lots of rain but almost no snow and rarely colder than -3 or 4. I am going to Calgary where it may easily sit around -20 with some wind....you need much different clothing... :-).

Totally off topic here- I was just over at VH1 rewatching some parts of the Divas show and I noticed that a lot of the segments had around 9 to 12 thousand views, but Miley Cyrus's segment had 87,000+ She must have a big fan base. Who knew? Well, I guess a lot of people knew. I just never paid her any attention. peace&love

I went to a dog show in Calgary -- just flat with the mountains off in the distance -- wide open spaces! And, prairie dogs! Everywhere!

You know these things when you have sisters/daughters of the right age. My sister made me watch Hannah Montana countless times. :
