Alrighty, just reminding everyone (so far we are a small group ) that our first check in day is tomorrow. I got out my green bags. I think I tried them on bananas before to no effect, hopefully the salad greens will be better. I may try the air method too, I've kind of done that in the past along with a paper towel.

Hi Jablea! YAY! Let's do this again this year! Thanks so much for spearheading the effort. It's a chore to even try to get people to do this! I've been in denial for the past 6 months..... Last year I lost about 20 pounds & of course I've managed to gain most of it back. Totally my own fault -- eating way too many carbs & alot of junk food. I seriously need to get back on track. So I'll give it another shot. Starts tomorrow, huh? That means I have to eat up all the holiday goodies in the house TODAY. : Well at least it'll be a fun afternoon & evening... ;D

Jablea Sorry to put you throught the pm bit..I did check out the thread this morning and was going to write a quite note out re lettuce when RL pulled me away. Agree...with gingerpf ...so good of you to pull us together again in terms of keeping Adam fans healthy. I lost my goal last year 10 pounds plus 2 more. Enough to drop one clothing size. I was doing pretty good until the end of Novemeber. So I will weigh in tomorrow and set my goal...most likely 6 or 7 pounds. I fell down on not working out in the last part of the year...that does need to improve. I need more than walking and I need to tone up!
See you all tomorrow! ;D PS...re lettuce. I buy only romaine or spinach. I prefer a type that has one head of Romaine (dark green) not the type that has the good dark green leaves removed. I open the bag and tear out what I need. I then put that open bag with the Romaine in another little plastic bag and tie the ends...but still allow some air in. It lasts a pretty long time. If I buy the type that you put in the bag yourself ie the Farmer's market--- when I leave it more open to the fridge elements, it does not last as long.

Hi Jablea thanks for the PM and for getting this going again. I haven't had much success losing weight lately, I really need something to jolt me into action, so I'm in!

It's the First Day of the Rest of Our Lives
I think the song Never Close Our Eyes has a bit of relevance to this. Forget about the past and live life to the fullest from here out. And live it so that five years down the road we don't look back and say, if only I had......
Welcome everyone back to the Shape Up party. I've got exercise buddies!
I'm setting my goal to 20 pounds less on the caboose.

Okay, I'm back. Have been doing pretty well until Christmas and gained some back. Ugh! Back on the bandwagon! Once you start eating things you shouldn't, it's hard to stop. See you tomorrow!!!!! (Probably not in the morning)

Well, I've decided this is the year I will re-lose the weight I gained over the past 6-7 years. I have had weight issues all my adult life, and successfully lost a bunch and kept it off for a long time...then it crept back.Sigh. I'm glad you guys will all help me out with this because I will need support and motivation. I know HOW to lose the weight, I just need TO lose the weight. My goal is to lose at least 50 lbs this year (yes, 50) at least. I plan on doing this by eating a mostly vegetarian low-fat diet and exercising on a regular basis. It's worked before, and I felt much better. I've been motivated in part by age and in part by how healthy Adam looks by eating better. I have eaten very much like he does, and it really does give you lots more energy.
So, here goes...new year and time to get to work! Wish me luck!
Also, I could use any low-fat (especially vegetable) recipes you might wish to share -- I realized when I ate a mostly vegan diet that I don't like vegetables as much as I thought I did. I love fruit, though. My weakness is bread and anything that resembles bread, or pasta, or bread, or pasta (you get the idea!). I also believe ice cream to be one of God's perfect foods, so I will be switching to low-fat frozen yogurt for my occasional fix.

Hi ! I am in again this year Going for another 20 lbs over the 10 weeks ! Last year I lost 32 lbs with our extended "trespassing" goal and summer. Then my husband passed suddenly from a stroke, in June. Since late summer, I have gained back 5 lbs, because I haven't taken the time to eat as healthy as I should. And, lots of "comfort" food eating, too. But, I want to get back to the higher energy levels I had last spring eating healthy and exercising Also, hoping to drop another size. Good Luck Everyone !!

Well Jablea, you pulled me back in with that PM. I have gained everything I lost last year, but I will try again. I think one of my meds is working against me because I am really careful about what I feed myself and my husband. He lost 18 pounds last year and hasn't had any trouble keeping it off because we are still keeping calories down. Absolutely no desserts except Activia yogurt to keep us regular. Me, on the other hand, I gained everything back but have not gone over that. I just can't seem to lose it again.
I will try but I think the only thing I can do is watch my portions carefully, and make sure I don't go over 1/2 cup of anything. If I eat bread, I make sure it is gluten free but even that hasn't helped. We eat white potatoes very rarely and are sticking with sweet potatoes instead. Lots of veggies and I eat only 3-4 ozs. of meat and my husband has 5-6 oz. of meat.
Exercise is what I don't do and that may be why I hang on to this weight. I do have trouble with my hip so I really am not that active. However, I will drag out my walking tape and try it one more time to see if that makes a difference.
Good luck everyone.
