Thanks Maddie for the year end round up! So interesting. These numbers are world wide SALES? Can you tell what country drives these numbers the most?
Media Traffic Charts track worldwide numbers. However, the albums sales are estimates at best, no one has the real total worldwide numbers except the record company; and the tracks are not ranked by sales but points which comprised of 70% sales and 30% airplay.
IFPI's annual "Recording Industry in Numbers" report hasn't come out, yet, last year's came out on March 26, so let's just go by those data for now (can't imagine 2012 is gonna be that much different from 2011).
"In the global rankings, the U.S. retained the top position with sales remaining flat in value terms totlling $4.37 billion. Japan, the second biggest global music market, recorded a 7% decline in trade revenues, falling from to $4.39 billion in 2010 to $4.09 billion. Germany is once again has the world's number three music market, posting flat results, with revenues totaling $1.47 billion in 2011. The United Kingdom, which slipped behind Germany in last year's world rankings last year, remains at number four, with recorded music revenues totaling $1.43 billion, a 3.1% fall on 2010's total of $1.48 billion. France is at number five with recorded music sales totally just over $1 billion."
Australia, Canada, Brazil, the Netherlands and Italy made up the rest of top 10 global music markets, respectively.
Of course, every artist has his/her own strong & weak markets.

Is this the same chart you use to get Adam's international numbers? Interesting how well Lana did worldwide compared to the US! :-/ Do you think SNL killed her sales here? Wow, just noticed the difference in Madonna's sales. She did well internationally. And Carrie Underwood's sales are prettty much all in the US.

Media Traffic only publishes the top 40 on their main site but you can find the extended list here: www.chartsinfrance.net/communaute/index.php?/topic/41870-top-monde-2012-maj-page-17-estimations-mediatraffic/, which is where UKMIX gets their info from, too.
Lana's train-wreck performance on SNL had little to do with her comparatively underwhelming sales in the US, IMO, she still sold over 400k here, which is not a shabby number at all. I just think her whole image & vibe and her music struck a particular chord with the int'l audience, especially the Europeans. Below are certifications for Born To Die, it's really fascinating:
Australia --- Platinum Austria --- Platinum Belgium --- Platinum Brazil --- Gold Canada --- Platinum Denmark --- Platinum France --- 3× Platinum Germany --- Platinum Italy --- Gold New Zealand --- Platinum Poland --- 2× Platinum Portugal --- Gold Russia --- Platinum Spain --- Gold Switzerland --- 2× Platinum United Kingdom --- 2× Platinum

maddie, the reason I asked where you get Adam's internationl numbers from is because your post above says on that site it is only 70% of sales and 30% is radio play? So, are the internationl sales you get for Adam the same way?

The 70% sales & 30% AirPlay is Media Traffic's point system which applies only to the tracks(singles) chart, the albums chart is based solely on estimated sales. And, yes, I got the int'l numbers from the link mentioned above.

Here is the forecast for next week's Billboard top contenders from HDD:
YOUR TOP 15: Lord have mercy! It's looking like Christian Contemporary artist (not contemporary Christian, as previously reported) Chris Tomlin will debut at #1 on next week's chart, as the Top 3 albums are all new releases. We're hoping that our coverage of Chris' chart success will help keep us from getting struck by lightning, at least for another week. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: * Chris Tomlin (sixsteps/Sparrow) 70-75k * Hollywood Undead (A&M/Octone) 50-55k * Black Veil Brides (Republic) 45-50k Les Misrables (Republic) 45-50k Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 45-50k Bruno Mars (Atlantic) 35-40k Pitch Perfect (UMe) 35-40k Lumineers (Dualtone) 30-35k * Dropkick Murphys (Dropkick Murphys) 30-35k P!nk (RCA) 27-30k One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 24-27k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 24-27k Phillip Phillips (19/Interscope) 21-24k T.I. (Grand Hustle/Atlantic) 21-24k Imagine Dragons (Interscope) 21-24k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 21-24k Now 44 (Capitol) 21-24k * Debuts source: www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi
