I used to listen to a different version of Balsamo's "Gethsemane" (a live, TV version), but have never heard this one. It's INSANE!!! I've seen Ted Neeley perform JCS a few times but never Balsamo. WOW!! Yeah Steve Balsamo's cast recording is my favourite cast recording ever. It's got Alice Cooper as King Herod We'll never see Steve actually performing the whole thing though cause he only did it for one tour and there's no footage But yeah Adam as Jesus would be interesting. He'd need long brown hair ;D Jesus also has some real low notes so Adam would have to bring out the Runnin' again

Woah. Hearing him sing this would be amazing. Coming out of lurkdom to say CAN YOU IMAGINE THE SHITSTORM IF THE REMAKE OF THIS MOVIE CASTED A GAY MAN AS JESUS?!?! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAH Omg. I would die loling. It would be amazing. I'd actually forgo the dream of him doing Judas' role for the UTTER MINDFUCK this would produce. And then when the film came out some actor would say his singing was amazing but the acting was lacking and IT WOULD BE A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT!! Bwah. Oh anyways happy new years! THIS MUST HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I need 3 posts to wrap up 2012 so I'll just drift by to first weigh in on the Les Miz notgate as a minority opinion (duh ). I've put off seeing the film because I'm a Les Miz nerd of the old school and I'd heard Hugh didn't quite nail it - and I just thought hmmm, maybe not, but I wasn't outraged. I don't think Adam's opinion of LM is wrong but I don't see it as a good example of what I think of as 'right speech' that may sting someone but serves a higher purpose. This opinion of LM is pretty much already out there far and wide -- so, unlike in some instances in the past, Adam wasn't supporting an unheard or little heard view. And yeah he really did kinda name names - once you rule out EVERYONE he excepted (lol) that pretty much leaves Jackman, Crowe, and Redmayne. (I'm not counting Cosette because she's always negligible to me - I'm Team Eponine all the way.) I think pretty much everyone who cares is aware of the weaknesses in some of the singers so Adam wasn't exactly serving a purpose other than letting off steam - which - okay, that's what twitter is for - but, just me, I would personally choose not to twitter piss on Hugh Jackman's shoes over one performance given his impressive body of work across stage/film/genres -and his rep as a nice guy/generous performer. And there are ways of saying 'hey, producers, let's see about putting qualified singers who can act in those roles' - without using the 'PRETENDING to be singers' jibe -- but twitter is an accomplice in many an impulse comment. Again, I have no problem with Adam's opinion or his voicing his opinion as he sees fit but imo a better worded criticism is just good karma. When famous singers are looking to move into acting and snag tv/stage/film roles - some frown given the number of proven actors shut out -- but I like to see fine performers - including pop singers - try acting if they aspire to it. At the beginning, they often aren't exactly great like... well, Russell Crowe (ha). There's at least one singer I hope to see make such a transition to some acting work and I wouldn't like to see him dismissed for ~pretending to be an actor. Still, whatever, we've agreed (most of us) that Adam isn't Jesus - which is good because that role is far, far less interesting than Judas (sorry nationalglampoon :D :D)

But vocally the more interesting, and more suiting role for Adam is Judas and I will haunt your dreams until you admit it!!!!! >:( ragrhahgr

The YouTube I saw with Balsamo was on a tribute show. I should find it. He's bawling by the end of it. Incredible, raw emotion. I saw an independent production last May that was very cool. It was set in modern-day Los Angeles. Jesus lived among the young homeless. The media was the mob. Judas was a Billy Joe Armstrong (possibly Adam) type – rock star who wore eyeliner and King Herrod was a Lady Gaga type. They also did some gender switching in supporting roles which was very cool. Jesus was portrayed as very vulnerable. It asked the question: What if Jesus were to come back today? How would he be perceived? They didn't have an orchestra, but a rock band on stage who did the entire score. It was a high school/college-aged theater company and they did a great job! Haaaiii, Chunkey!! Glad you popped back in!!

One more than I'll speed away to avoid the hail of stones and grab some NYE treats. (And one last one before midnight ofc!) I can't believe no one else enjoyed the WTF of Adam's tweets to Evan Rachel Wood. Imma assume Adam was a) backtracking wildly, b) flattering an early supporter, c) dropping his phone in his mai tai or d) all of the above when he complimented her singing in Mildred Pierce. It would not take much awareness at all - much less someone with Adam's amazing ear - to tell that ERW was not singing opera (?) in MP - ESPECIALLY if one had also heard her in 'Across the Universe'. In fact when HBO was rolling out Mildred Pierce there was discussion of the opera singer who provided most (i think) of Veda's vocals. Oh Adam Lambert - you are a minx and an endless source of mischief and delight~. Never change eta: glampoon - haunt indeed! promises, promises
