Ignoring bad behavior is a time tested way to help extinguish it, but I think in the case of this latest tweet-gate a a few well written, polite and knowledgeable responses from Adam's fans served a purpose. Because these articles were about a current and popular movie, some readers might have just been reading because they were interested in the movie without knowing anything at all about Adam. If all they saw were pages and pages of how Adam screamed, was irrelevant, was a failure etc. they could certainly get a negative idea of him as an artist and a person. On the other hand, a positive reply numerating his accomplishment, talking about his vocal strength, recommending youtubes and so on, might encourage some to investigate him. He might even get a few new fans. Yesterday one poster said that he had listened to CTMBTM because someone had mentioned it in the comment section, and came back blown away. I realize this might have just been a ploy of a clever fan, but it sure sounded nice.
Welcome col it is great to have you. I love how international this site is. Global star indeed!

Why is Adam so polarizing? People posting the negative comments seem to be spending a lot of time and energy criticizing the opinions of someone they claim is "irrelevant." If they really didn't care, you'd think they'd just shrug and move on to the next media-manufactured controversy.
I'll never understand why some people enjoy squandering so much of their time on this earth spewing forth hate. I used to wonder about this and try to respond. Then I realized that the best response was to ignore these people. If someone has decided that they do not like Adam or approve of him because he is gay, an online comment is not going to change their mind. Once people form an opinion, it is hard to change. The longer they hold that opinion, the harder it is for it to change. Adam could donate $5,000,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief and there would be negative comments about it because it came from Adam. Just the way it is. But many celebrity performers are fascinating/polarizing and they are the people who become icons. A mixed blessing but a blessing. It’s because Adam’s an easy target; so obviously different, he attracts the attention of the feeble-minded ‘commentators’, various self-proclaimed experts on all possible subjects, internet loud speakers who possibly cannot muster a complex sentence in RL…; Adam is a perfect target for the pathetic spurting they manage to squeeze out of their sparse brain cells. They just can’t miss the opportunity to appear like they are able to form a coherent thought, an intelligent comment… They feed their low self-esteems by planting their so-called opinions all over the net, achingly illiterate and limited as a square mm… What ultimately feeds them is managing to provoke a reaction; it gives them a sense of victory and they embrace it as a final proof of their immense wisdom. So, involving oneself in a discussion with these internet leeches is a no-no. Also, I think reporting their comments, bringing them over here, angsting about them, is a no-no as well. As it happens, Adam obviously could not care less about these orcs ; if he did, he never would have performed with Queen, or commented on LM the way he did. I honestly do not believe that he thinks all publicity is good publicity, or that it was in his mind when he made the comments. It is just that he refuses to silence himself, to limit his actions, reactions and thoughts because of these people… He poked them right in the eye and predictably so, they went berserk. How unusual.

Ignoring and/or getting used to those ignorant comments is the best advice. They are ridiculous..... especially the 'he isn't even relevant' ones, because they will only end when he actually is no longer relevant. :
