I started the recap but then dumped it in Mainepf's lap and she's done a really terrific job. I think I am going to have to step up my game from now on :D

Loving Adam, being a hard core fan has certainly changed my life. A little less than 3 years ago I decided to get on a plane and go meet people I only knew from Planet Fierce to see Adam perform his first true solo concert in Indio, CA. It is not unusual for me to do wild and unpredictable things as I am by nature an extroverted risk taker, however, this time was a little different. What I know about taking adventures is that the side effects when one returns home can be extraordinary. In the past, each time I returned home from adventures (traveling cross country to see the Grateful Dead or Rainbow Gatherings, or just headed an hour away for a weekend Goddess retreat), my personal life would invariably undergo some transformation fueled by the adventure.

This time, my professional life, which as a midwife is inexorably tied to my personal life by the nature of the work, needed the kick. When I returned home, I made the decision to move from my small home birth based practice, which was financially not doing all that well, to work in a busy birth center. Essentially I went from serving 30-40 families a year to serving ~250-300 families per year. As a home birth midwife, I had my own practice, an island unto myself. At the birth center, I am in a group of 10 midwives where communication, cooperation and mutual respect for each other is essential to providing excellent care to the families we serve. We are all held to a higher standard as we are a highly visible practice.

Almost 3 years later I am busier than I have ever been, making more money than I ever thought possible and fully gratified in my job. I am making an incredible difference in women's lives and continue to learn how to be a better midwife every day.

Seeing Adam take chances, knowing his story, loving his openness, his bravado, his desire to reach for the top, to settle for nothing less than the best has truly inspired me. It is true that since I took the job at the center I do not have nearly the time for Adam that I used to, but that does not matter. Adam's clarity there broke through my own resistance to take that leap to work for somebody else, something I have always resisted (I like being self-employed!) At some point early on he said something to this effect --do what you do best, don't aspire to be me---and so I took him seriously. And I am glad I did.

I hope everyone here has a transformational 2013 in the best way possible, to the good of all and with harm to none.

there has to be the double meaning in this tweet, otherwise it's too obvious. I go with your other meaning, about rearranging the furniture in their new home.
