[/IMG] Of course some "Glamberts" probably lost interest because he was out of the spotlight for so long. They were obviously not as committed as we are! :D
IMO, the casual fans are the determining factor of any artists' major commercial success. IF the Idol fans had been the main contributing force to the FYE sales, then Kris Allen would've had a much better debut the first time around. Diehard fans are undeniably one of the most important support systems for the artists, but we do not make a superstar out of them! Btw, I bought FYE, many of my friends have it, too, but we're not Idol fans. #glambert#

This is an interesting article that I haven't read. It's interesting because it emphasized the size of Adam "entourage". Most of Vietnamse artcles mentioned that there were 20 people in Adam's "entourage", which for them is a huge number. The thing is I don't think that it is 20 including Adam, and Aurea and the Korean singer also brought their own band and dancers but no one mentioned that at all. In this article they attributed the sucess of Adam's performance to his large "entourage". He's got his own band, b/u singers, dancers, technical people, his show must be perfect. Even Backstreetboys brought only 7 people (??? I think excluding the band itself - if so, it's a very odd comparision). And they say that one of the reasons for Vietnamese singers not delivering their best is because they don't have their own "entourage" like that. Even though they didn't have their facts right, the whole vibe of the review is everything about Adam's performance is perfect. They couldn't find anything to complaint, so they tried to find what made his show succesful. All good :-) I doubt Adam has 20, unless they are counting the Vietnamse CIA looking security brigade they gave him!! There were 8 of those! [/IMG] I count the band = 4 Adam & Sauli = 2 (and Sauli is hardly ever with Adam on these things. But who could resist Bali for NYE. Right?!) Dancer & VJJs = 4 Rob & Dana =2 Guitar techie =1 Soundman =1So I'd say 14 or maybe 15 if I missd a techie! Adam was very smart to have the dancers & VJJs for this show. As we know he doesn't always. The size of the show seems to have made a big impression!
I would add 4 more people -- someone to handle administrative stuff/management for Adam and a PA. And someone to handle the costumes. And at least one security person for Adam. There could easily have been 18 people including Adam.

Seems like the destinations & local promoters have been providing those. I've seen Adam traveling, first hand. No bodyguard!

ETA: To put this stray thought into context -- Idol fans were mentioned above and I was thinking about how little commitment it take to be an Idol fan. Forcing fans to take OWNERSHIP of music would make the more loyal.
If they let me redo Idol.....
I would have the contestants perform, and put the song for sale immediately after the show ends.
A purchase would equal a vote.
I would use IP address to select only the votes that came from the right place and time -- 2 hours after the show per time zone.
I would limit "voting" to 10 per IP address.
No more spam voting. And no more negative voting for free.
I believe the winner in my system would be very likely to have a better commercial potential than the current Idol crew. Well over a hundred Idol finalists and fewer than 10 are currently really successful. And only Adam, Scotty and P2 have reasonable to great sales from the past 5 years.

I think Adam lost some fans when he chose to sing pop and not classic Rock and/or ballads. Who cares. Many AI fans probs thought he was going to continue to do covers or something along those lines. I hope Adam's fan base continues to grow from the number's attending his live performances plus TV viewership. I think we sometimes fail to recognize the huge risk he took with being honest about his life because we see past all that -- some don't. He is considered risque. He does challenge the norm. He's great, his performances are solid. There will be a point when more and more people will appreciate the hard work he puts into exceling at his craft.

Off topic so feel free to scroll, but I had to see why Justin Bieber was trending worldwide. Posting it because Adam also has to deal with paparazzi and crazy fans. Justin Bieber fans self-harm in 'protest' against his alleged marijuana smokingThe Twitter hashtag was started as a joke but was apparently taken seriously by young fansJustin Bieber fans have been posting pictures of themselves self-harming as a way of pleading with the pop star to stop smoking marijuana. The hashtags #cutforbieber and #cuttingforbieber started trending on Twitter after internet message board community 4Chan started spreading the meme as a joke, writes Complex. Young fans of the singer however, soon picked up on the hashtag and started posting pictures in which they are thought to be cutting themselves for real, reports Gossip Cop. ....more, including this: According to TMZ, Lil Twist, a rapper friend of Justin Bieber's, was with the pop star in his hotel room when the pictures were taken. The photos were allegedly taken the day after a photographer was killed trying to take a picture of Bieber's white Ferrari. Since the accident, Justin Bieber has called for tougher laws involving paparazzi photographers. Link: www.nme.com/news/justin-bieber/68050

Not that long ago, many people paid for individual texts, but now I think most have unlimited messaging. So it would seem they could change the rules in favor of common sense without costing the sponsors a lot of money. But there may be other reasons, mostly financial I would guess. :

The actual just Idol fans still expect him to sing "Mad World!" Remember those annoying ladies during the Vinyard stream! :twist: Surprisingly, to most of the Idol watchers, Idol is a TV show. They really don't know about or follow thru to the after Idol careers of these kids!!
