Aleks and Glampoon, Thanks for your music/performer suggestions yesterday. I'm trying to listen to at least 2 songs for each one. So far, I've only made it partway through Aleks's list and got stuck on Radiohead. I like that the best and bought "Live from the Basement" from iTunes. That is more to my liking because there is more musical complexity to what they do. Back to my research on YouTube. Oh, Holst! What a wonderful, open-minded person you are! I'm so proud of you, for stepping outside of your comfort zone and that's something I'm pretty bad at, actually. Way to go, bb! :::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Why, thanks. Sometimes people are surprised that I don't listen to classical music a lot (anymore). I should, but for me it feels like work because that's what I do. I can't relax to it because it I actively listen to it. Same with Adam, I don't have him on for background music because I get very focussed on it. That's pretty odd that classical music and Adam's singing make my brain very active.

I'm so proud that Adam is going to perform in Russia. Just imagine what a great moment that is for the Russian fans to see him. I hope also some gay fans feel safe to attend the concerts. About a month ago I saw a documentary on Finnish TV about the gay rights movement in Russia. It's a sad situation but the activists involved are very committed to the cause. They are even learning English in groups so that they can be in contact to other countries outside Russia. Wherever Adam goes, he brings people together and opens minds. Just like Q3 said. I believe that the Queen connection is helpful in this situation. Adam was amazing when they did the Queenbert concerts there and he gained a lot of respect. I doubt he would be treated in a disrespectful way. Imo the most important thing is the power that Adam can bring to the gay community there. It is very likely that he will be asked to tone down his performances and I think he should definitely do that if he wants to be able to return and do more concerts there. Hopefully that feeling of liberation that Adam embodies can bring some strength to the Russian gay community. Hold onI would love him to sing Outlaws of love there but it is very likely that that would be the last song he sang in Russia.

I agree. Afterall, this is not AL Radio even if we all wish it was. EMR needs to attract listeners with many varied tastes in music and I think they're doing a great job. So happy they are playing AL. I guess the true measure of my AL devotion is the fact that I 'put up' with the rap selections just to hear AL. I hate RAp!!! If they air his music 1-2 times per hour I'd be happy. That would be a lot more than we hear on US stations which I refuse to listen to anymore. If non-fans at least hear his music every so often they may be inclined to check out his music. Now that we all have gotten over the excitement of listening to EMR, perhaps limiting our requests and tweets might be a good idea. Well said nannygoat. Just to clarify where I was coming from - i am ok with requesting Adam but don't make it all about him & keep it positive. ie don't complain if every second song isn't Adam and don't trash talk all the other music played (it's ok to say it here but maybe not on twitter/facebook or at least keep the comments polite) If all you want to hear is Adam, listen to your ipod.

I think the music choices the Inaugural committee made were fine. Represented four genres, two generations.
I wish they had picked someone other than James Taylor -- that was pretty unforgettable.
I was not a fan of the MCTOT/America arrangement Kelly used but my understanding is that the arrangement was done by the Marine Corps Band.

Yes, but they are "floating." You can access them no matter where you are on the page. Not for me. Any suggestions? I am on a Mac, and if I make the page too big (as I often do for easy reading) then I notice that the page number bar disappears. It stays till the page size reaches some magical spot where it disappears. I then just reduce the size a bit and it comes back.

The reviewing the troops stuff is odd -- 18th century style red coats look British to me.

So happy to see the locations back, thank you. I must post more as I want a second star !! Can't compete with Burrito though!! I really don't get all the hoopla about the stars .... just post your opinions and whats on your mind! I considered myself a lurker ... well, I posted more than I thought I would, And as much as burrito thinks she has to work to be noticed, she stuck in my mind "from day one"! hmmmm .... what was I talking about again? ... oh right ... QUALITY over QUANTITY .... might seem like a diss to some, so I'd rather adapt it: quality / quantity = there is no competition when the deciding factor is LOVE AFLAnd I loooooooove all posters (little white lie here).
