I have a habit of composing a longer post in a separate text file. Now I notice that when I copy the text from there and paste it to the reply box the result is not what I see there having the visual on. :( If you do this in a word processing program like MS Word, you have to post it in the BBCode panel OR you will get a mess. If you want to post it into VISUAL, use a plain text editor like MS Wordpad that does not include formatting code. Just like on the old version, formatting from a word processing program will not work here. I find that it is really easy to format text in this version on VISUAL. I use Wordpad and don't insert any special formatting (it gives me time to see what points I made, what is missing, check dictionary etc.; earlier also making the text less wide cause I don't like to read long lines and it was 'saved' if I got distracted). It was with the paragraphs that morphed into one, there were two 'returns' needed even before. I made mistakes with that but preview helped - now that it looks like ok I was fooled. I'll learn to be careful with that, just wanted to let others know about it.

I think my favorite feature is the larger AVIs. Every page is a feast for the eyes! Q3, there is a smiley missing. The one of the "fan loving Adam" Do you mean this little Adam smiley? Or this one? I can put either back if I take out another Adam smiley. Just let me know which one to pull off.

Ugh! Scary!! I kinda wish Adam would cancel Russian dates in protest! Am I missing a concert? I have 2 in Russia -- Moscow and St. Petersburg. ** I have mixed feelings about it but I hope Adam stays out of Russian politics. And when he performs, he brings people together and seems to open some minds. I saw that even when I went to see the Idols Live in the deep South.

I just wanted to ad my two cents on the vocal performances for the inauguration. I would be amazing to hear Adam perform. I think a lot of people who don't know much about him would be dropping their jaws (fans would too).
I was very impressed with Beyonce. She's not my favorite singer/performer but she really showed her chops. She started very low in her range (a bit weak) but what can you do with that song. She sang it her style but did not get overly showy with it.
Kelly is the one who really impressed me, however. I would not be surprised if that arrangement was done just for her; The military bands have some terrific composers/arrangers. It was drastically different from the soulful version Aretha Franklin did at Obama 1. The reason I'm so impressed is because that arrangement was not so straightforward for a pop singer. There are lots of time signature changes, and she had to know exactly how long to hold notes and rests. Normally the song is in 3/4 time (the beats are grouped in three's like a waltz--1 2 3, 1 2 3). This version has 4-beat groupings and possibly some in 5 (I only listened twice). At any rate, she couldn't just rely on singing it the way the rest of us do. Very tricky. American Idol can be very proud today.
Also, neither of these ladies is used to singing with a band/orchestra, which has to be unnerving for them.
James Taylor was very nice, but, as i mentioned before not a great singer compared to Kelly and Beyonce. His voice is pleasant and relaxing, but his songs are what is most unique about him.
ETA: Ooops, might be too off topic or should be in the Vocal Masterclass thread. Oh well.

Re Adam singing the National Anthem at an event such as this - The problem is that Adam is not a "safe" gay. And YIKES he wears makeup!! Horrors! And yeah, while both girls sang beautifully, I was more impressed with Kelly. Loved the key change and sang with more emotion. IMO of course!

But I don't want him to cancel. His fans over there would be crushed.

Aleks and Glampoon,
Thanks for your music/performer suggestions yesterday. I'm trying to listen to at least 2 songs for each one. So far, I've only made it partway through Aleks's list and got stuck on Radiohead. I like that the best and bought "Live from the Basement" from iTunes. That is more to my liking because there is more musical complexity to what they do.
Back to my research on YouTube.

I agree. Afterall, this is not AL Radio even if we all wish it was. EMR needs to attract listeners with many varied tastes in music and I think they're doing a great job. So happy they are playing AL. I guess the true measure of my AL devotion is the fact that I 'put up' with the rap selections just to hear AL. I hate RAp!!! If they air his music 1-2 times per hour I'd be happy. That would be a lot more than we hear on US stations which I refuse to listen to anymore. If non-fans at least hear his music every so often they may be inclined to check out his music. Now that we all have gotten over the excitement of listening to EMR, perhaps limiting our requests and tweets might be a good idea.

I'm so proud of you, for stepping outside of your comfort zone and that's something I'm pretty bad at, actually. Way to go, bb! :::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Here is another new/old video uploaded by Carina and when Adam finishes talking about NCOE, he says some truly lovely things; Carina@_ninni 2012-06-08 Adam Lambert talks about new single Never Close Our Eyes...: http://youtu.be/vsRrbtwUO5I via @youtube
