I was talking to my elderly parents who were watcing the super bowl. They know noting about pop music, tho' they do know I love Adam. I have played CTMBTM for them, and they watched the EMA performance with me, so they know Adam can SANG. They both complained about the half time show: too much production, not enough music and singing. Said it was like watching a stripper show. They said they would rather have seen Adam perform! Totally unsolicited, from my 80-something year old parents.

My husband, also unsolicited, just said that he though the Super Bowl half time performance was very lackluster.
ETA: I didn't see it as I was busy taking a little nap, lol.

why must I know the story of the Tower of Babel? When you said this I did a Google search because I thought I must be missing something and honestly I'm more than a little offended that you assume that everyone should automatically know a story from the bible. I've never read the bible, so why should I be expected to know this story? Tell me, am I also expected to know the stories in the Quran or Tanakh? I'm sorry, I didn't want to offend you - just this is so well known story and I didn't know about it from Bible, but from lessons about poetry. No problem, I will shut up myslelf from now. It isn't necessary to be religious or even to recognize that a reference is from the Bible. As nonchallance says, some stories are so well known that an artist or author could assume that people will understand.

I thought halftime was pretty lackluster too. It was ok but nothing great. I liked it better when Kelly and Michele were on stage too.

Now I'm upset, and I don't understand anymore what I did wrong - for me it's not story from Bible, it's things I've learned in school when we were talking about interpretations in poetry. To this day I didn't know one person who didn't know meaning behind Tower of Bable and I was only suprised not judgemental (sorry my english is stil rough, I'm not that clear as I want to be sometimes). Talking about jumping to conclusions. So thanks for making me feel like some kind of bad person. I didn't know about it from the Bible either, but understood the reference. It was referenced in the 2006 movie 'Babel'. Here's what the IMBd site had to say about the reference and meaning of the title.. The title refers to the story of the Tower of Babel in the Biblical Book of Genesis. In the story, the people of the world are all united and speak a common language. They begin to build a tower to reach the heavens and become godlike themselves. God, seeing this, decides to confuse the language of the people and destroy the tower. When the people could no longer understand each other they gave up work on the tower and spread out to different parts of the world. It also refers to the connections -or lack thereof- that come through the use of language. In each storyline the characters struggle with surviving and self-identification based on misunderstanding through a language barrier. This film ultimately looks at the fact that we are all intimately connected on a life-and-death level, yet the trivialities of langauge and misunderstandings break us apart.
Also, the word 'babel' means a confused noise created by a number of voices, which is essentially what the story of the movie is
