Adam is a talented and gifted singer/performer who has the potential to have an amazing career but he's just a newbie in the business. Living Legends achieve that kind of iconic status after decades filled with massive success and genre/generation spanning reach. It takes global super stardom on a level unheard of from 99.9% of artists. and, unpopular opinion, Trespassing wasn't a transformative album like say Breakaway for Kelly Clarkson, Mizunderstood for Pink, Stripped for Christina Aguilera, Justified for Justin Timberlake, etc. Hopefully someday he'll find that kind of success but even if he doesn't he's still got a great career and we still get to enjoy him doing what he loves to do. How about FRank Ocean??????? what about Frank Ocean? I don't understand the reference.

How about FRank Ocean??????? what about Frank Ocean? I don't understand the reference. The reference was for Frank Ocean being up for about 6 Grammys and he's a new singer... nothing to do with living legend part.. my mind is not running well this morning ,I actually slept past 4:00 am .. shock to the body.LOl

How about FRank Ocean??????? what about Frank Ocean? I don't understand the reference. I think Trespassing was transformative! It was praised critically all over the place. On the world stage it has done remarkably well. It just didn't get the radio play it deserved.Thats the one thing I will never understand. It was completely overlooked, not really given a chance to be popular here in the US. If they don't play it how can it sell except to the fans who follow Adam. I am really upset about this and don't tell me it didn't fit the format! Hardly anything this year fit the format.

Have you all listened to Frank Ocean's album? IMO, it's a mess, and to me not that worthy. To be honest, I don't see the hoopla associsted with his music. Maybe it is me and my tastes, since I have been highly spoiled by many a great artist, including Adam. I think because Frank, supposedly is the gender bender, he has come into view and predominance. The Grammy's, despite what all is said is still about sales and poularity. You get the off moments, where talent does reign. But what I find even more interesting is the number of artists who were voted Best New Artist, many of them went into obscurity after they received their Grammy. Some did not, but many did.
What is even more interesting is that many legends have never, ever, ever received a Grammy and artists like Taylor Swift do. What is even more infuriating to me is Bieber csrrying on how he has been snubbed by the Grammy's and feels he deserves a Grammy nomination and that he is entitled to a Grammy. He is bordering on spoiled brat now.
I know I do rants about equity and justice, but that is just me. Equity and justice plays a significant role in my life, so I guess it spills over into music. And yes, music is in the ears and hearts of the beholder.

ITA!! I most definitely think it was transformative. It is an excellent piece of work - certainly as quality as most of those mentioned. There were simply bad calls on the marketing end probably compounded by a lot of factors (political, international, etc.) and they have radio stonewalling for whatever reason. That has nothing to do with the quality of the work. It should have been recognized. It wasn't, so it will be part of his cumulative cred. Ben Affleck is proving right now that people often rally around an artist thatis unjustly snubbed because of superficial or political reasons. My gut is this will eventually happen to Adam too. The more he does his thing, the more people will catch on and think, like those from the gala, "Holy crap! He is really good, why haven't I heard more from him?" The pop flavors of the week will come and go, but talent and determination such as his won't be denied indefinitely.

I have listened to Frank Ocean's album and I agree, its a mess! I just don't get it. His performance on one award show this year (can't remember which one) left me dazed and confused. I was expecting something fantastic with all the hoopla around this performance. In my opinion it was awful!!!!!!!!!! As far as gender bending I believe Adam was discovered before him. I would love to know what Adam has to do to be heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell us what she said? I don't do Facebook and can't see anything. Two really cool things happened to me on Thursday night, well, many more than that, actually, but, I got to do a portrait of the portrait photographer, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, and I fell in love with Adam Lambert's singing. Check out the article and many photos that I shot that night. Many celebs came out to party.www.examiner.com/article/we-are-family-foundation-honors-adam-lambert-with-unity-award?cid=db_articles
I still cannot believe how much fun I had at an Adam Lambert concert last night! I had no idea what to expect from him, but when he teamed up with Nile Rodgers and Sam Sparro it was epic!. The sound was perfection and the bass was blasting, which you can hear in this video. All I know is nobody left till the end.www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2FJ98nbOq8
Nica, thanks so much. YAY! Another convert.

But Trespassing has done great . And Honestly ? I can't , can't , CAN'T wait for new stuff . MAJOR YAY for new stuff this year .

Interesting article I ran across from my local Fox station. It's about why tickets to concerts are so hard to get. " Bridgestone is a great place to see a concert with nearly 14,000 seats. Here's the shocker for Bieber fans -- according to arena documents, only 1,001 of those seats were actually available to the general public. .......Elizabeth Owen is a consultant for Fan Freedom Project, an organization putting a spotlight on ticketholder rights."There are thousands of tickets held back for every concert, and people like you and me, we get the leftovers," said Owen.At Justin Bieber's Nashville show, 93 percent of the tickets were set aside, including nearly 6,000 for American Express cardholders and almost 3000 for fan club members. It's these tickets that can end up with scalpers.Three hundred of those hard-to-get Justin Bieber tickets, the Arena documents show , were "on hold" for the tour itself. But just after tickets went on sale, NewsChannel5found them on re-sale ticket sites. Dean Budnick co-authored Ticket Masters: The Rise of the Concert Industry and How the Public Got Scalped. He says in this case Bieber's team may have scalped its own tickets. "It was pretty clear if you looked at the inventory set aside, much of it then went on sale on the secondary market, that the tour itself was doing that," said Budnick.
LInk to the article is here: tickets
This is interesting. I've heard varying things before, but one thing about bolded part doesn't make sense to me. How is it when we have fan club pre-sales, people often don't get tickets or they get mediocre tickets and the premium tickets are on the resale sites the minute the general sale opens, so it's not like they were from a leftover "held" group? They're available immediately. Just the fact that you can start trying for tickets the second they go on sale and "best available" is 15th or 16th row (and this applies to Amex and fan club too, as I've done both), yet you can go directly to StubHub and they have blocks of 10 front-row (or better) seats all over the place. The only thing that makes sense to me is they come straight from Ticketmaster or or the promoter to up the profitability. And I'm not sure I would totally object if they were upfront about it. Don't pretend these are "fans scalping selling to fans," say right out you can get premium seats if you pay a premium. I guess with the broker sites, they can have a sliding scale for prices too. The tickets are now priced based on what people are willing to pay and not face value, which is free-market enterprise but still, be don't pretend that's not what's happening. And, Susie, I think your idea is exactly what Prince did on his last tour, isn't it? Remember, he had the bulk of tickets priced at $25. But, and a BIG BUT! He had a section at every concert around the stage that was VIP. These tickets were priced at $700+, right on the TM site. No scalpers got the excessive $$, he did! I remember an article about his pricing back then and it said the pricing was done this way deliberately to eliminate scalpers. I think it was brilliant! No scalper is going to purchase tickets off of TM for 700+. And the fans that can afford it, can get those tickets right from the start! No games!!
