Quick question on how doing cover's works -- does Adam have to have permission to sing STAY? I remember on Idol that permission was given for ONE. Just curious. I wondered about this also so looked it up on Yahoo Answers. Looks like the venues handle that with dues paid to Performing Rights Organizations "When you perform cover songs, the writers and publishers are paid through performing right societies such as ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN, or PRS. One way these performing rights organizations (often referred to as PROs) collect royalties is by charging a fee to bars and live music venues. Next time you walk into a club, look for a PRO sticker on the door or front window. That means they are paying their dues so they can have a jukebox, DJ, or live bands that might play cover songs."

How does one improve on perfection? Adam just demonstrated with Stay/Underneath. No words. I, too, am speechless!

TP is growing on me, but still not sold. Are they basing the arrangement on a remix? The chords are different from the original version and every time they play one particular sequence - which they do many times- it is jarring and sounds like someone hit the wrong notes. But, for those in love with his low register, it is on display thru much of the song. (rubbing my ears) Just out of curiosity, which sequence are you referring to cassie? I'm trying to catch what you're hearing, but it seems my ears and I are having trouble focusing today... ETA: DUH! Imeant FYE, not TP. Sorry! I think I probably need glampoon to demonstrate the original chords and the changed ones, as it is beyond my ability to use words to explain. I just wrote two paragraphs of gibberish trying to. But, on the lyrics of the live version from Japan and Korea, he sings "So hot out the box can we pick up the PACE, TURN IT UP heat it up, I need to be entertained. Push the limit, are you with it, don't be AFRAID, DON'T TRIP off the glitz...." Etc. that chord/bass pattern continues thru the song. On the capitalized words, the chord is an Ab minor with an Ab in the bass. On a casual listen without referring to my keyboard, the studio version has a Bb minor chord there with an Eb in the bass. Just sounds very different to me. But I think that at least one of the remixes used those harmonies. GLAMPOON, where are you when I need you?

That plus the recession. Clubs did not used to get bothered by ASCAP, etc., and the dues are not cheap, according to him.
