I just got here -- but perhaps Adam also means "LUSUS NATURAE" as it was used in the European Middle Ages -- any creature or specimen that defied classification. This phrase has mamy meanings and with Adam's love of wordplay, I expect he had multiple meanings in mind. The new tattoo also includes a pyramid!! Good interpretation - " The category of Lusus Naturae was not simply a way for medieval naturalists to avoid classifying puzzling creatures. It actually symbolized a belief that Nature was an active, sentient force that enjoyed playing jokes on man, that enjoyed confounding his expectations and subverting his classification schemes." In other words - don't put him in a box.omg i love this !!!!!

I see the tat as Adam reclaiming the word "freak" and making it a great thing, as in the expression, "Let your freak flag fly!" He's saying, "I'm different and proud of it!" It ain't nothin' but positive! I agree that it's meant to be very positive. I also think it's beautiful the way it sits right above his glove. I never really liked the placement of the infinity symbol and key because they seem to kind of float with no spatial relationship to anything else, although my guess is that eventually he'll have a whole sleeve that links them all together. But I love that he's going for very classical images and latin. It makes the whole tattoo thing seem like it's a journal of the journey that he's been on since Idol. Some of the stuff people put on themselves (coughTommyfrankensteincough) just seems stupid. Tommy is a huge fan of the movies, especially horror movies. He's also got tattoos of Nosferatu and Linda Blair from The Exorcist--as well as a tattoo of John Wayne because he's a big fan of the Duke. Movies mean a lot to him, so it doesn't seem stupid to me that he would declare his love of that art form through his tattoos.

But, but, but..... Adam's new tattoo is simple fact. Truth in advertising. I introduced Adam (via YTs) to a musician friend of mine who was more and more impressed as I played YTs showing what diverse things Adam can do with his voice. After listening to CTMBTM he said Adam had one of the most beautiful tenor voices he had ever heard. When I got to "My Conviction" his response was "this guy is a freak of nature!" I thought it was a pretty accurate description of Adam's vocal ability. The message of that tattoo seems perfect to me. Yes, the voice alone is a freak of nature. It really is. While there are other people who have great style, charisma, looks, etc., almost nobody has a voice like that. Add it with all the other attributes, and he is a freak of nature.

In Polish it is "dziw natury" or "dziwo natury" which means "wonder of nature" also something astonishing, strange, unknown, unusual or wonderful.

HE TATTOOED YOUR FACE ON HIS ARM !!!!! YAY !!! #jokingnotjoking HA! Not because of the pyramid -- but because of the words -- this is my favorite tattoo Adam has gotten. I hope he never explains it. Because then I can continue with my belief in the layers of meaning here. Lusus is also the mythological companion of Bacus, the Roman god of wine and divine madness. (And a misinterpretation). lusus literally means game.
ETA And some strange love of symmetry makes me enjoy the letters in the triangle/pyramid.... USU U Is he planning to go to Utah State University. ?!?!?!?!?

Have we seen those gold pants before? (3rd and 4th photos page 18, in the series posted by Wal) I was wondering the same thing. The shirt he wore at the press conference seems to be in the same vein. Shopping in Japan?

I would still guess the floor and level one seats is closer to 9-10K than 5K. The boxes and 3-4 sections behind the stage would not account for a 13K difference. A few pages earlier I posted copies of tweets from people who seem to have been keeping track of the number of tickets offered and sold: 6,250-6,300 tickets sold not including the 3rd & 4th floor seats/boxes for the sponsors. This was apparently more than they had initially released for sale. ETA - I think 5,000 was what they had originally set up for. So, more than 1,000 more tickets sold than what the promoter had counted on. The max configuration for a concert at Mercedes-Benz Arena seems to be 12,000, like last year's Elton John, JLo (poor sales tho) and Maroon 5 (although their first concert there years ago was 3000 and didn't sell well). Adam's concert was initially configured for 5000 'cuz it's his very first mainland China concert. Last week, 大麦网 (China version of Ticketmaster) opened up additional 2 areas for sale and ultimately it sold well over 6000 tickets (see dancy's numbers above). There're also several hundred VIP non-sale tickets, so the total audience last night was close to 7000! Pat, get your dollar signs and dancing cats out!
