I really liked your post here, kay. When you think about it, accompanying a vocalist like Adam must be an extremely challenging job for a musician. Adam's powerful voice can soar off in any direction, and he often changes up his songs to keep them fresh and interesting. I dug up some fascinating insights I'd read a while back from Bliss Johnston, who worked as a conductor, accompanist, and vocal coach in opera houses all over the world. About the challenge of being a musical accompanist, he says: "The ability to establish a rapport with a singer is just part of compassion and respect for the individual. If you listen and provide support where they need it, they will unfold what they can do... When their voice becomes free, it happens. "It's like being out on the ocean dancing on a little boat. No matter how much motion there is, there is a stillness down deep—a profound centre. It's the same way with the human voice. Singers are used to working in this boundless place; then they come in and have to work with someone. They have to be vulnerable, and we [the accompanists] have to provide the support system." I love the glamily, but I don't see anyone in Adam's band right now who can provide the support system to enable Adam to soar to transcendent heights. Are there any young, hungry Brian Mays or Nile Rodgerses out there, I wonder? Is that even something Adam wants? It will be interesting to see what unfolds in Era #3.
Exactly. Adam has to want it, don't you think? From what I have seen and heard....Adam is extremely driven. And he wants more success. It seems like he makes the best out of every situation he is put in to, but I do not believe he is completely satisfied. I think speculation is a waste of time, mine included. How would Adam gain any continuity as he kept switching musicians until he found a Brian May or Nile Rodgers in the making? Established musical geniuses are not going to join a backup band and there is absolutely no way to know who will be the perfect fit. It also seems to me that Adam wants and maybe NEEDS to be surrounded by people he enjoys and trusts on stage. I've been thinking a lot as I watch these videos how much fun he has, how chilled everyone is as they leave the stage, not having to worry about ego issues like who leaves first or last. If something goes wrong, ummm, lyric fail, it is no big deal because the backup singers and the band "handle it." I do understand what you all are saying, but I think you are naive in thinking the band is hampering Adam in any way. AND, I think he is having fun. Not that success is not important to him, but I think given the choice of a sterile, stilted, programmed performance with elite musicians and being able to chill and connect with those sharing the stage with him as well as with the audience, he'd choose the latter. C'mon, no mention of the dancers? I LOVE Terrance, and Johnny to a lesser degree, but Adam could do better and have expert choreography. Instead he chooses "good" dancers with whom he shares a history. I think we all should respect his choices and love them as he seems to. As always, JMO

It was the best stream ever. Not only was she in the sweet spot, but did you notice there was no crowd noise or talking? This is extremely rare in a fan video. I wonder if she was in a deserted part of the theatre. I don't know how she could control her own flails, singing and screaming. The sacrifice of some Glamberts does not go unrecognized. (bowing down to @glamstarky)
Dang I wish I could see Anderson's speech now. Will have to wait til my comp or connection cooperates. I did not care much for Madonna's speech. I come from a Scouting family and her lack of respect for the organizations of both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts disgusted me. I wish it was not getting so much hype. I would rather Bill Gates comments get more attention, he actually was a Life Scout. BSA, like the USA, is evolving. Our family has received multiple surveys from the National wanting input on the issue. The LDS church has too much power in Boy Scouting though. We will see.
