It's seems like we might be treading on thin ice to continue the band discussion. I was enjoying the exchange and different perspectives.
I was not expecting to have my opinions and observations deemed ludicrous and basically called stupid.
1) I don't think anyone here is COMPARING Adam to Muse or Queen
2) I don't think we are "WORRYING" or "CONFUSED"
3) I don't think anyone referred to his current band/touring musicians as "SUCKTASTIC"
4) I don't think having high hopes and wanting to hear the best possible music from an artist we love is "UNREALISTIC"
5) obviously #itshiscareerandhecanplaywithwhoeverthefuckhewantsto
I really appreciate the articulate expression of so many opinions without personalizing it or creating a kind of drama that this board, frankly, has not missed.
6) Okay, I will carry on.

and my dear husband who inspired the original conversation. (he is becoming a fanboy who does give a fuck about Adam!) yay.

Major hugs to you too, Restless! i also think it's not the actual intention here to compare Adam with Muse & Queen, rather some wishful thinking aloud for a better musical support to inspire and bring out the best in Adam. i do fear that those who have yet learn how to appreciate his voice will unfortunately judge his artistry based on overall music performance. |

Hugs to you as well Restless. I don't appreciate being called stupid or confused because I want to see Adam with his immense talent paired with very high quality musicians. My discussion of my sons viewpoints and Muse or Queen was to point out what great musicians can add to a great singer. not to compare Solo artists to Bands. Adele is a Solo artist surrounded by classically trained violinists and pianists, she herself is proficient in 3 instruments. This lends to a knowledge of music theory that is pretty important. Adam is a brilliant vocalist but not an instrumentalist, and because he doesn't read music he needs someone proficient in theory around him to be his best. If he's content with his band/family that is great; my love is for Adam, his voice and I'd love to hear a higher level of musicianship on his next collaboration. By the way to those that don't think it's available to someone as new as Adam; the great Universities and Music conservatories in the US all have amazing and talented current young musicians that would love to work with Adam.

DH didn't go to Berklee but he was accepted to a well-known music school in UK called Guildhall, but chose to pursue physics instead. He's been playing piano since age five, plays by ear and reads music, composes, etc. He has been telling me since day one that Adam needs great musicians like Queen. He wants him to be part of a band that writes their own music and has their own sound and they will play on the albums as well as the concerts. When I tell him Adam is a solo artist, he says, well Freddie Mercury was pretty famous and he was part of a band. DH has gone with me to most of Adam's concerts and the only band member he sorta liked was Longineau. He didn't even think Monte was that good. When I tell him that Adam can't afford those top-notch musicians, he said the same thing as you, thebean...that there are college students who are brilliant who would love to work with Adam. Kudos to you both for expressing your opinions. I wanted to add my two cents in earlier but stopped when I didn't like the tone of some of the responses. |

I come to Atop for the conversation about Adam. This topic was relevant and I so appreciate the people more knowledgeable than me who join in. But I too could really do without the "#adamcandowhateverthefuckhewant" type comments as if we can't be on that team as well as discuss the merits of top musicians.
Please nobody be silenced by this kind of stuff. I'll be bored silly if the threads have no opinions other than "Isn't he awesome?! Whooohoo!".

The Moon Garden has not been very active lately. I think people forget about it. I wanted to say that it was set up so people could have a place for in-depth, non-news discussion. I'd encourage people who enjoy in-depth thoughtful discussion to consider posting in there and see if we can get something going again. Sometimes the daily news thread seems to get ugly, but yesterday surprised me considering it was a concert day.

Please remember that members are allowed to disagree with any opinion stated. Some members "voice" may be blunter than others but their opinion is just as valid. I don't want anyone here to be silenced by what they perceive as criticism but you have to allow dissenting opinions. If you feel like someone is denigrating your posts I suggest you contact them via PM or or bring it to a mods attention but lets not post about it publicly. Thanks.
