His spike in followers may be due to Idol's Rock Week last night. There were a lot of tweets mentioning him and some of the bloggers (Lindsey & Slezak) also mentioned him. Discerning viewers were getting nostalgic! WHO WOULDN'T??? And speaking of Idol, next week is Bert Bacharah week. No offense to Bert, who wrote many great songs, but this is NOT going to help the show at all! Unless they're looking for a spike in the over 50 group. omg! Bert Bacharach? Surely you jest!?....... nail in coffin

This season I've tried to watch---> twice, for a few minutes. Last night I turned it on again, and within 10 minutes I was in a coma. Didn't wake up till it was over. Can't do it. Haven't been able to watch since Adam.

Adam mention. AMERICAN IDOL's Ratings Woes: 8 Common-Sense Ways to Salvage Season 12 http://tvline.com/2013/04/04/american-idol-ratings-down-season-12-how-to-fix/ … #SaveIdol, @DizzyFeet!
American Idol‘s Season 12 ratings continue to slip like a baby giraffe on an ice rink: Wednesday night’s Top 7 performance show drew 11.5 million viewers and a 3.0 rating (ticking down to an all-time Wednesday low). Sure, you can blame reality-singing overload: With NBC’s The Voice now offering two cycles per year andThe X Factor holding down the fort at Fox during Idol‘s off season, you’d expect audience attrition for The House That Kelly Clarkson Built, especially in its twelfth season. But increased competition is only one part of the equation — and there are plenty of other factors for the ratings drop. It’s time for Idol‘s producers to take responsibility. As a massive Idoloonie who’d love to see the reality juggernaut stay strong and produce another generation of J.Huds and Carries and Lamberts, I’ve concocted an eight-step plan to reinvigorate Season 12 — and keep the Idol train moving forward in the coming decade.
Bring on the All-Stars! The most common complaint about Season 12 has been the way producers stacked the deck with powerhouse female singers — at the expense of charismatic, talented and (if we're being honest) crushable guys. For Top 5 and Top 6 Weeks, why not take a page from sister series So You Think You Can Dance: Let the current crop of contestants perform one solo number, then a duet with a fan-favorite Idol alum. Imagine a Kree Harrison-Kris Allen collaboration. Or a Candice Glover-Adam Lambert jam. Maybe a Janelle Arthur-David Cook mashup? (Heck, I'd pay big bucks for an Amber Holcomb-Jennifer Hudson throwdown.) Seems like a guaranteed way to bring back lost viewers — and create a magical night of music in the process.
I love Slezak. He's got great ideas (some of which are painfully obvious to most of us) and he writes well.

Re Adam's twitter followers, I thought I saw last week on another board that Sony (or maybe Sony global??) had tweeted out to their followers to get Adam to 2 million. Did I imagine that? I really wasn't paying close attention.
My guess is may 18th, 10 pm eastern time (if that's not taken yet)

That music was pretty bland even back in his hey day. He is my parent's age (mid-80s). I wonder what Adam would have sung? I suggest (with tongue in cheek) "What's New, Pussycat." What do you think? Click here and scroll down for all songs.
