Wow!!! SFGN Meow!! I guess they are jealous because they are not getting recognition from GLAAD. They really should have kept their mean, spiteful, petty behavior to themselves. They are pitiful. I laugh at them. You and me readon...

Marchhare glad you joined us. Everyone's opinions are welcomed here. Can you tell us how you found Adam and Adamtopia? Thank you for the welcome! I found Adam the same way so many of you did...tryouts for American Idol. I was mesmerized by him throughout his appearances on AI, recognizing that he was not just a singer, but a showman of the 1st order. I'm enjoying watching him grow, both professionally and personally. (I am old enough to be his grandmother so I notice that stuff!) I fully expect him to some day star on Broadway and in movies. He is an exceptionally talented person, as well as an exceptional human being. I found Adamtopia through my friend Google and have been lurking for many moons now. I just now and then get the urge to express my opinion. Thanks to everyone for all the pics, tidbits of info, videos, etc. It is such a nice distraction from the ugliness in our world right now.

Having flashbacks to Aaron Hicklin... The different was, Hicklin expects a lot from Adam after Adam's come to the scene. Since Adam's suddenly so famous, Hicklin's seen Adam's as away/tools to help the gay right movements. He expected Adam to be the poster boy of the movement, and to watch what he does/say and not to make mistakes. His crazy expectations that got Adam really upset and gave the AMA audience a finger.. lol

Helloooo Adam is going perform 2 or 3 songs tomorrow?! And he already won this award? Is it confirmed? He is scheduled to perform 2 songs, and yes we secretly know he is winning an award because Adam posted then deleted something saying he was going to China to accept an award.

" I have a love/hate relationship with Steve Gray, but I found myself nodding a lot while reading this piece. From Steve Gray's blog: This is why a lot of LGBT members don't like Adam's flashy, flamboyant, make up bold appearance, because he refused to be conformed/mold into one type. This OLD view's the reason why Adam promotes diversity in the LGBT community,

Right now I'm thinking about Adam. He went to Miami Beach to be a major player in Miami Pride. Interviews, PR, keys to the city, performing. Hops on a plane to LA. Hops another to Hong Kong. Ferries to Macao. Fans, paps, pics, autographs everywhere he goes.
Flies on a loverly first class plane which he totally deserves, but jetlag? Arriving Macao in the morning, soundcheck in the afternoon. A performance and possible receipt of an award for best international artist coming. Adam has extended his stay in China, having accepted more 'invitations'. More press, more prep, more of more. Will he get much rest during these next intense days? Probably not.
I am focusing on a man who doggedly moves on, works hard, keeps his commitments, gives meaningful and witty interviews, and then after who knows how many M&G's, performs 150% under every kind of circumstance and in every type of venue to the few or the throngs.
He is trying to balance his personal and professional life in this process.
By the time Adam leaves China to return to the US, he will be met with expectations about his third album and nonstop scrutiny by the press about his relationship status and other sundry crap. My bet is he will be butt tired on his return, but I doubt that he will have much downtime. Behind the scenes meetings with management, label, producers, writers...and on it goes for Adam Lambert.
I'm hoping his twitter feed is full of supportive messages of love and encouragement. I hope he doesn't have to read ad infinitum about one publisher's take on a member of the LGBTQ community.
I respect all who felt a pull to address the article in the South Florida paper. Could we in equal or greater measure, also send love to Adam, who goes through this shit all the time?
I don't do twitter, but many Atopers do. Is it possible to start an Adam lovefest on his twitter not related to this article or trend something about Adam in China? Might bring a smile to the face of a hard-working artist who is doing his best one day at a time.

Not to raise anyone's blood pressure but as far as I can tell Norm Kent is a gay man who wears suits and practices law.
Yes, he founded two gay newspapers. Beyond that, he is primarily a Marijuana legalization activist.
Here is his own official bio....
As far as I can determine, his gay accomplishments are basically founded Express Gay News in 1999 - an LGBT newspaper in Broward County - and sold it 4 years later. In 2009 the company that bought his paper went out of business and Norm started a new LGBT newspaper and Website called South Florida Gay News. He claims it is "Florida's most widely read LGBT news source" but this is an unsubstantiated claim that I believe in untrue.

I did not see the other Op Ed from SFGN posted here and I am posting it because it is a defense of Adam. In Defense of Adam LambertJason Parsley 2:24 PM My publisher Norm Kent published an editorial today blasting Adam Lambert and GLAAD for giving him an award. I disagree with the piece – and him – wholeheartedly.
Kent attempted to make the case that Lambert hasn’t done anything for the gay community in his short few years on the public stage. But what my publisher obviously failed to realize is just how much Adam Lambert has been doing for the gay community. He’s the first mainstream pop artist to come out at the beginning of their career. Look how long it took celebrities like Elton John or George Michael to come out?
Lambert was out and proud before he ever released a single or album proving that being gay isn’t detriment to one’s career. He embraced his sexuality from the start never shying away from it, which included kissing a man on stage. And when he released that album he became the first out LGBT artist to reach number one on the Billboard 200.
I don’t like sports, but that doesn’t mean I don’t see the newsworthiness of a story involving a gay athlete. And it wouldn’t make me puke to put them on the cover.
Who I am to judge what someone else is interested in? My publisher likes baseball. I don’t. But that doesn’t give me the right to tell him he shouldn’t care about something he loves.
Lambert recently appeared on the Chinese version of The Voice, singing to a television audience of 400 million people. Let me rephrase that, an openly gay man appeared on a communist country’s television show singing to 400 million people. No matter how you look at it, that is significant.
So Adam Lambert isn’t just making a difference in America, he’s making a difference all over the world. He recently performed in Russia, a country that may ban foreign gay couples from adopting children; that is trying to ban ‘homosexual propaganda;’ and last year Moscow banned Pride marches in the city for the next 100 years. Yet Lambert performed there giving young LGBT people in Russia hope and a role model to look up to.
Earlier this year he also performed in Ukraine as the lead singer for Queen. The Eastern European country also has problems with its gay community, and just this month an LGBT advocacy group told the European parliament to suspend visa agreement with them until it fulfills its commitments on gay rights. Two bills currently moving through their parliament include a ban on the ‘promotion of homosexuality’ which if adopted would seriously undermine the freedom of expression of LGBT people and a bill that would criminalize ‘propaganda of same-sex relationship’ and be punishable by imprisonment.
Lambert could just as easily stay away from these countries, but instead takes his music and sexual orientation to them, showing the normalcy of being gay.
Just as Lambert said in our interview: “One of the thing that drives me the most is when I was younger I didn’t really have a lot of gay role models who were proud and gay and open and were who they were. If I can help a young person feel more comfortable in their own skin or be the person they want to be it’s fucking awesome.”
And then there’s his charity work. In May he’ll be traveling to Vienna to perform at Europe’s largest HIV fundraiser, Life Ball. In 2011 for his 29th birthday Lambert set a fundraising record for charity: Water, which brings safe drinking water into developing nations. He raised more than $320,000. His starting goal was a measly $29,000, proving the power of his celebrity status. These few items only scratch the surface.
It’s important for celebrities to be out and proud and GLAAD recognizes that, and that’s why it gives awards to celebrities. Now I won’t apologize for my publisher’s opinion, as some suggested I do, because he has a right to express it, just as I have a right to disagree with it – wholeheartedly.
