My twitter feed is all talking Idol and it isn't flattering! A really boring evening of "fake" one-hit wonders and soul-less performances. Boring... The best actual singing was the final song by Angie...and the song predates me...and I am old. Good frickin grief, these are young singers trying for a break and they are singing "Cry me a river"!! That is too old fashioned for me let alone the young-ins. LOL The judges are getting reamed on Twitter!! All of them, even Keith! I think Nicki is the best judge the show has had since Simon. I don't always agree with her but she is always 100% honest. She is the only one who has the courage to say exactly what she thinks and so is the only one who is entertaining. Keith is too diplomatic, Randy is the waste of space he has always been and Mariah just loves everyone and takes far too long to say nothing. |

I watched for about 2 minutes and switched it off -- too boring!! But I am enjoying The Voice which is not as much fun as Idol in the good years, but much better than Idol this year. ** I am glad Adam is not an Idol judge but I honestly think the show would have been better with him sitting in one of those chairs. Of course, I am not an unbiased observer. Problem with The Voice is that it is on the same time as Dancing With The Stars which I much prefer to any of the singing reality shows. But I've caught some of The Voice on it's weekend repeat and I really like Shakira & Usher better than Christina & Cee Lo. The chemistry is much better with these judges. Amber sang Donna Summer's version of MacArthur Park tonight. Jimmy hates the song, but this was always one of my favorites from way back when, but I prefer the Andy Williams version. Someone asked a couple of days ago for song titles that people would like to hear Adam sing. I know it may not be a popular opinion, but MacArthur Park is on my list of songs I would like to hear Adam sing, along with Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You. I adore Kellie Pickler and have an itsy bitsy crush on Derek Hough. I've been surprised and so pleased that Kellie is a good dancer. I miss the quirkiness of Cee Lo, but def not Christina. Shakira & Usher jumped right in, though. The Voice judges seem like they're having fun and are really interested in the singers. Mariah Carey doesn't even pretend to do her job and I can't even pretend to care about her. Nicki Minaj is much better than I thought she'd be, but my expectations were pretty low. My mind has gone blank, can't remember the country singer's name, but he's ok. And Randy is just Randy. Candice has been the front runner for me for a while now, but all of the girls have had some good performances. At least Idol has some good singers this season. There just isn't anything special enough to tune in for. ETALOL Got distracted and forgot that I meant to say that I can't listen to MacArthur Park without hearing Richard Harris. Doesn't matter who's singing, I hear Richard Harris. |

I though I remembered that somewhere Adam said that MacArthur Park was one of his favorite Donna Summer's song. I could not find it in a google search. But I did find some mention of Adam singing a line from MacArthur Park in the 5.14.2012 thread of ATOP, page 32, post by WAL. Anyone remember where Adam sang this line? |

Anyone know where Adam sang the line from MacArthur Park? ETA - This is the 2nd time I posted this comment. The 1st time I got a "FATAL ERROR" page from ProBoard, so I didn't think it posted and tried again. But the 1st one did post so I deleted it and left this one. |

Anyone watching IDOL tonight.. With 4 really good singers,how can the show seem boring to me..Is it me??I'm here writing,I can't watch anymore. I'm watching. This top 4 is very good vocally. But I could just listen and not have to actually watch since nothing really interesting is going on visually. With Adam, I could not take my eyes off of him. Angie & Candice sang Stay as a duet tonight. It was really good, but had more of an angry emotional feel to me. I thought Adam's tender, heart broken, emotional rendition much better suits the song. Um, yeah. Well. I hated it. Adam's version was so vulnerable, poignant, touching, simple and pure. It defined how the song should be performed. To see two divas try to out sing each other in a belting sorta gospel type rendition was a turn off for me. But, don't take my word for it. |
