So happy to know that Adam is in studio recording. OT: David Cook's new single, and he will perform it on Thursday. linkI like it. Good boy, Cookie. I like it also. It has a more distinctive sound that the few songs I heard from his last album. Who is Cook signed with? I thought he was dropped by RCA...and I love me some Cookie action, so I hope he blows it out of the water with this single. Talented man. He was my first Idol crush..seriously. Only year I watched before Adam, but still..an Idol crush??? Ohhh..that breakdown near the end of the snippet gave me goosebumps!

This is from Lyndsey Parker's article link previously: "David Cook parted ways with BMG last year--after releasing two albums for the label--announcing the split backstage at last season's "American Idol" top four results show. But the Season 7 "Idol" winner, who's now 30 years old and recently relocated to Nashville, is hardly laying low: He's back on "Idol" this week to play this season's top four results show, and today he released his comeback single, ironically titled "Laying Me Low.""

I feel like I'm spamming the thread since there are so few pages today. I want to take a moment to thank all of you who post LGBT-related information (even non-Adam stuff). I Have learned so much by reading here. Today my 15-year-old violin student was in a really good mood for the first time in ages. He confided last fall that he is a gender-questioning person and has called himself bi-sexual this year. He talks freely and openly with me and a number of friends who make up his support system. He's dealing with a couple health issues as well. But today he looked healthy and good, and said he felt well because he wants to work toward having a gender change. He's in counseling already and has talked with his parents and some friends about this in the last few days. He said he's always known he wanted to be a girl but he has just been calling bi or questioning so it didn't seem so out there. (Of course, this all reminded me of our own lovely young Atop member. ) I am so glad that I have been able to have more enlightened conversations with this student because of my Adam fandom. He's had a very tough year, and I hope he can find a bit of peace. Thank you all.

David Cook is not with a Major Label. XIX Recordings is one of Simon Fuller's companies -- and Cook is managed by XIX Entertainment Fuller's talent management company. It appears that this digital single release is part of an effort to get him signed to a new contract with a label.
XIX Recordings is not the same as Blackwell Fuller which is a JV of UMG/Island Records and Fuller.
Lisa Marie Presley released her last album with Universal Republic/XIX Recordings.

BMG? Why is she calling RCA/SONY, BMG? I know it is part of their complete title but I never hear people say BMG for the label. Cook was with RCA/SONY and was signed when he won season 7. He was dropped really quickly after his 2nd album and it's single went nowhere. He has been with Simon Fuller's management company XIX, ever since Simon started it. He is still with XIX and I guess they are considered the label releasing it. I like David. He's a good guy! I was actually surprised RCA dropped him. With the success of his first album and 2 singles, I think he deserved one more chance. I hope this song does it for him! ETA: The quality of that snippet from Lyndsey's is bad. Here's the whole song with better quality. Much better than anything that was on his last album. IDK if radio will play it without a label though! youtu.be/zELa7nxPpak

Cook's contract was with Sony BMG Music Group and he was assigned to RCA, a label within SBMG. Sony bought out Bertelsmann and renamed it Sony Music Group in December 2008. So Cook was signed to Sony BMG, Adam to Sony. Both artists were assigned to RCA.
