Watching last night's performance it was so obvious to me how his theater experiences add so much to his duets. In theater you have to "dance" with your partner or you might as well sing solo. He is so frigging generous when he sings with others. IJLHSM Hi there! Where's your avi? You are so right about his theater experience and what it adds to his performances! And that's about all I have to say because I can't get caught up!!! I am loving every single thing today!

Kree Harrison is not the 'Idol,' but still an idol By Beth Rankin Friday, May 17, 2013
..
Being the runner-up may not be such a bad thing. Some of the show's second-place contestants have careers rivaling the singers to whom them lost. Adam Lambert, Season 8 runner-up, has both a Grammy nomination and an album that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which is more than can be said for winner Kris Allen. At a post-show press conference, Lambert said winning isn't the important part of "Idol" - exposure is. "I don't think first, second, third is what it's all about," he said. "I think it's about launching your career. Everybody knows Kree now." ..

Beats the hell out of me how he does it! But I find it interesting that even non-singer, non-glambert listeners hear something special and beautiful in his voice in Stay and Titanium. It is undeniable. I recently chatted with Angelina Kalahari, the well respected opera singer/vocal coach who is a die-hard Adam fan. (For those of you awaiting her next program on Adam's voice, she hasn't abandoned the idea. She is super busy with her own projects and with teaching and conducting vocal master classes. Several Adam-centered programs are still on her "to-do" list.) Some of the things she pointed out about his voice were: 1. Yes, it IS getting better and betterer. To be expected as men's voices continue to mature thru their mid 30's, and voices improve with frequent use (if used correctly and not screwed up with improper technique). But, at the same time, amazing considering how great it has always been. ETA: There are more and more harmonics in his voice, particularly in the lower frequencies that add richness. 2. The ringing clarity of Adam's voice is due to the way he focuses his sound in the "mask" or frontal part of the face and sinuses. It is classical, operatic technique, but Adam uses it consistently, even when singing pop and rock, soft or loud.
3. Adam has remarkable mastery of his instrument; as good or better than many opera singers. His technique is a master class in itself for singers everywhere. His control of tone, breathing, placement, phrasing, intensity, and pitch is amazing. We frequently say that his singing is "effortless", and it sure sounds that way. But, in reality, it is very hard work, requiring focus and energy and that technical mastery. She has remarked in one of her blogs that, after the London showcase for press where he sang just five songs, she hugged him and he was drenched with sweat from the energy expended. She could still feel the charge of that energy radiating from his body. He gives it his ALL, literally.
4. As a singer matures and grows emotionally, even experiencing difficult times, that growth and depth are reflected in his voice and in his performances.
Only another classically trained, highly trained singer can probably identify WHAT Adam is doing to sound so good, but we are all fortunate that we can HEAR the beauty and mastery. I am crossing fingers and toes that Angelina will find time fairly soon to write a definitive blog about Adam's voice. There is so much crap from so-called "experts" out there, I think Adam needs someone like Angelina to set the record straight.
What was so beautiful about last night was that non-experts, and non-fans could hear the difference in Adam's vocal performance vs. other very well regarded singers.I agree with this so much. So often loud, fast and high win the day with many audiences. And many people are loving the Candice/J Hud duet for that. I'm not belittling those skills, but am so glad many people saw beyond that.

Now after listening to the duet over and over and over (and LOVING every second of it) can I just say that I don't really love Adam's shirt..... eta: "Stay" breaks my heart for reasons that became apparent later on. I do think Adam sings certain covers for a reason. We know the reason that he sang Titanium -- Angie picked it. And JMHO I do not think "Stay" had anything to do with what was going on between Adam and Sauli at the time. (Sorry if I misinterpreted your point.) It is a great song, and covered by so many artists. In any case, Adam has never said anything to connect his cover of "Stay" directly to his relationship with Sauli. But thanks for the excuse to post this... youtu.be/ISY6Pz3kxeYSorry, don't agree -- only speculation on my part -- it may be that Stay is a spectacular song and that's why he picked it but I think otherwise (with no substantiation whatsoever). It IS a stellar song and he killed it. I'm supremely happy that he chose to cover it -- maybe he only chose it because he got GREAT press from it -- I just feel otherwise. And, I know that Angie chose the duet and that's reason enough for Adam to sing it. That wasn't HIS cover, it was hers. For the record, I don't think Adam was begging Sauli to "Stay" when he covered that song. I can't really know what Adam was thinking, but I think this continued discussion is a way to try to hang on to the A/S relationship. The Adam/Sauli ship has sailed and sunk. Let go of the wreckage and swim for shore. I agree. Adam and Sauli broke up (amicably) sometime before the start of the WAG tour, so I doubt Adam would have been singing "Stay" to his ex-boyfriend. Maybe Adam just likes the song. As Adam himself has said, sometimes it's not that deep. Sorry, your guess into my thoughts when posting that comment are extremely far from my intent (shakes head) -- I think AT THE TIME it may have meant something (sorry to speculate out loud on this forum). Frankly, I could give a crap about Adam's personal life. Oh, and btw, no continued discussion -- ever. See ya.

Today, two atop signatures are catching my eye:
"Be golden and shine" (Q3)
and
"I prepare, I create, I love" - Adam Lambert (Rihannsu)
