Adam as trend-setter:
Many folks over on the MTV article are commenting on the comparison and and are shouting 'copy cat', because of these JLo pictures. Why? The Blondes came up with the design and showed it off at their 2012 Fashion Show with Adam front row and center.
Adam borrowed both idea and jacket and made it what we all know during Dragon Attack while singing with Queen:
He gave us images like this:
And if this image does not say DIVA, then I don't know what does.
Obviously, others thought so too and Adam and all of us got this at the Divas Live Show:
Since then we had this jacket imitated on Glee (Darren Criss)
and by some other artist (I don't remember who anymore) during a concert - perhaps somebody else remembers, I thought it was X-tina, but I cannot find anything....drawing a blank...
And now we are getting Billboards awards and J-Lo:
style.mtv.com/2013/05/19/jennifer-lopez-adam-lambert-billboard-awards/First of all, let me say - contrary to what is written in the comments under the blog: I think J-Lo looks fine also. While I vote for Adam loyally, I have no problem recognizing others too. J-Lo may not be able to sing, and her hair situation is questionable, but that leotard with feather arms is mighty fine, imo.
But my point is: The Blonds are running a business. They don't make their money from Adam, maybe they actually gave it to him as a favor, we don't know. But, if Adam is setting a trend, and they can market their design to somebody like J-Lo, then that is a different story. You see that red fur a few times in music concerts by varying artists and you will get a more commercial version of that at Bloomingdale's or somewhere. Furthermore, that red jacket has now given them major front page media coverage and that is valuable too.
The word fashionable inherently contains the word copy in its concept. If Adam is a trend-setter, he will get copied, that is what setting a trend means. lol.
Complaining about J-Lo copying this, is in my mind just ignorant, kind of like complaining when somebody covers a song or quotes a statement or a poem.
What is J-Lo to do? Wear a sign around her neck that Adam wore it before her? She will state on the red carpet or via her management who made the outfit and that is all she needs to do.
But, I do think that Adam has shown now multiple times that he is an early bird when it comes to fashion. In some of these he was not the lone trend-setter, but he jumps on the band wagon before it is mainstream or before it is imitated by others.
The medges, men's make-up product sales (front page Yahoo today), the claw glove....there is many either exotic or more mainstream ideas that could be given to demonstrate this.
Adam is not often recognized for this yet, but behind the scenes, it is quite clear already. Adam is a successful trend setter already.
And sorry, Burrito for missing out on my post, but I know a few others enjoy it, so I'll post it anyways. It's a slow day anyways.
===================
Miguel better settle out of court quickly on that one. I think the other girl may have had her hand squished too. Yikes
ETA: Melliemom, ha, I was putting my post together while you were posting about trendsetting too.
