Well, Q3 asked, so here’s my answer to why Adam should be an AI judge. I haven’t read the thread yet, so I hope this is not totally out of left field. Possible unpopular opinion ahead.
First, a disclaimer. I don’t like AI, or at least I don’t like what it’s become. I have very little respect for many of the judges that have sat at that table in the last few years. The people in my circle consider AI to be a cheesy factory for producing wannabe singers, and it’s not on the radar of anyone anymore. (My radio DJs talk about the Voice, not AI, when they even bother to talk about reality TV.)(Snipped for space)
]Good post.
See I am for the most part team DO IT if he was asked--who knows I mean all this hand wringing could be for naught if he isn't even being considered except in our own minds lol--but I would be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me that was a bit conflicted and unsure (I guess as with any big decision...though it wouldn't even be mine lol #nerd) about it. The credibility issue is one thing that makes me hesitate as is the looming question if the FOX people will be able to clearly see all that needs to be fixed (and there is a lot lol) or just continue to do the same dumb shit and focus on crap that doesn't help. I mean a great judge panel definitely helps but if the contestants all suck and are all singing 60 year old snoozers then that doesn't help either. So yeah, I have my reservations.
But let's say he DOES become a judge. This is how I break it down:
1) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Can't beat that. Even if they get him as a "deal" even making 1 or 2 million to judge a show he already enjoys watching? Heh. Pretty sweet.
2) It's not that time consuming. If he was still working on an album or even promoting the miraculous release of his third album in a timely manner (lol) Idol doesn't take a ton of time from his schedule. So I wouldn't think it would be a huge distraction.
3) EXPOSURE. Adam is great on TV. TV is great for Adam. Regardless of what you think about the show, having him show millions of people twice a week for a few months how smart and well spoken he is can't hurt. It could really help change around some minds of people who thikk he is just the BIG SKURRY MAKE UP WEARING GHEY WHO KISSED THAT GUY ON TV ONCE. Getting the tv watching public to fall in love with you can only bring good things imo. And yeah if he had a single or album out too it wouldn't hurt
4) RADIO SCHMADIO. We have no clue what the puppet masters who hold the radio strings will do or if the industry will scorn him for it. Will he ever get carte blanche like some acts? Who knows (though when Queen and Nile publically fawn over you I think you at least have some legitimacy lol). I think basing what Adam should do or not do on the whims of a wacky industry is unwise. I mean Maroon 5 was pretty successful before The Voice but not to this level. I mean who woulda thought it woulda catapulted them into the massive success they are having now? Thats not to say the same will happen for Adam (though that would be pretty sweet) but anything is possible. And if it doesn't then he at least has MILLIONS of more ears remembering he exists and/or hearing he has music out etc etc.
5) It can't get worse! Hey this season was pretty much universally panned. Adam will be hailed as a revelation by default! LOL but seriously a panel of him and three golden retrievers would look ten times more amazing in comparison. Not that we'd have to worry, but it's easier to step up to the plate when the guy before you has just struck out and split his pants and fell down on the mound. LOLOLOL.
So yeah. Who knows if this is even an option--the show may not even be thinking of him as an option. It's fun to spec because, well not much else going on right now, and I can honestly see both sides of the argument. But in the end I think the good outweighs the bad. It's an old show, and it has lots of issues but it still gets 14 plus MILLION eyeballs tuning in. That's a pretty damn good way of letting people know HEY I GOT MUSIC TO BUY YO.
I do have to say tho my mashed potatoes DO tingle a little when I see how upfront and whatnot about wanting to be a judge. "Where do I sign?" is pretty forward, a whole lot of puttin yourself out on the line to possibly look passed over or embarrassed. Even before this season, when he was grinning like a Cheshire cat while being asked about possibly being a judge and some of us were positive he had the gig, I don't remember him being so...whats the word.....VOCAL and BOISTEROUS about the gig. He was more "Oh that would be cool." and just seemed more laid back and cagey about it all. IDK wut to think tbh. Does this new way of handling the questions just mean he is being more aggressive with letting tptb he is interested or can he afford to be so vocal because he know he wont be overlooked? *wink wink tinhat tinhat* LOLOLOLOLOL
I srsly don't know. Whatever. If he doesn't get it then whatever. I mean my heart won't break. If there is one thing we learned is that he dodged a MASSIVE BULLET by not getting the gig this time. So if he doesn't again then I will assume it's the universe working in mysterious ways again =)
In the end I care more about ALBUM 3 BOOYAH
