You know, I was pretty sure Adam would not get this gig because of "the gay thing." But, if the rumors are true, Idol is deciding between TWO gay guys. Clay or Adam? Adam or Clay? Tough decision...... NOT!Idol, just look at the pics of Adam coming off a 10 hour plane flight in Vienna. Watch him be drop dead charming in the interview after his Idol appearance. Listen to his goal for judging.... it's all about the contestants, which all the media and Idol fans are saying needs to become the focus again to win back an audience. Look at the worldwide press and love for Adam. Clay wasn't on the premiere episode of Chinese Idol. Clay or Adam? Duh! Adam, of course.Someone posted Lyndsey's blog from 2009 the other day that Clay's persona non-grata in the AI production, so I'm not sure why they want to invite him again. Maybe one of this reporter just sneak in his name. If Adam wouldn't get this judge gig, I don't think it's because of "the gay thing". I think it's more about his sales in the US, thanks to US radio. I've done some more searching and Clay was back on Idol this year.
He performed "Bridge Over Troubled Water" on the Top 5 Results show, April 18 2013. I'd post the link, but I don't think anyone wants to see it.

And they said when we get to 10,000 they will unlock some goodies?:-) I don't think getting to 10 will be much of a problem. ETA: and Love seeing the non-English languages that are on there. Don't know what they are saying but sure is fun to see:-)

Someone posted Lyndsey's blog from 2009 the other day that Clay's persona non-grata in the AI production, so I'm not sure why they want to invite him again. Maybe one of this reporter just sneak in his name. If Adam wouldn't get this judge gig, I don't think it's because of "the gay thing". I think it's more about his sales in the US, thanks to US radio. Well JHuds's sales in the US aren't that great either. In fact Adam has far surpassed her in singles sales. I'd say it's her Oscar win and acting that is giving her the cred. I just wish that the Queen gigs would have given Adam some kind of cred but no one in the US even knew about it. I still wish they would have included it in his WATN package. On Queen and Credibility: I think most Queen and most Adam fans in the US know about Adam singing with Queen -- but I do not think that singing with Queen in 2012 would get anyone a lot of credibility. I love Queen, but they are not current. Excluding the 1992 compilation, Queen's last Top 10 album (it was #1) was in 1980 -- 33 years ago. Queen never achieve the kind of fame or commercial success in the US they achieved in the UK and many other countries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_discography On the WATN package: I am glad they used Adam's music and showed young fans from around the world -- he looked current and global and like he was having the time of his life. I do not think it helps Adam position himself as a current pop artist to be shown singing 35 year old covers -- even with the original band. On commercial success and judges: If you do it by album sales, and want American artists, Idol should just get 3 Country artists to be judges. 6 of the 2012 Top 10 US albums are country albums, 3 by Brits, 1 by a Canadian (Bieber). Adam has already achieved enough: Adam has 1 album close to platinum in the US, a US Top 10 single, a US #1 album, a US #1 DVD, tons of international chart placements, he has a Grammy nomination, sang lead with Queen, headlined a sold-out world tour, etc etc. US sales July 2012: Total sales: 1,173,000 albums; 21,000 physical singles; 4,903,000 digital tracks.

This may be OT, but I'm going to post it anyway. I heard about this on the website Queerty, but wanted to let ya'll know about it. It really hit home to me with what Adam said when he received his GLAAD award in San Francisco about the generations that came before his and paved the way for the LGBTQ community today. I don't really think any of us know just how many sacrifices they made for it to be better for this generation. Anyway, this film is based on the book 'The Lavendar Scare' by David K. Johnson, a historian, who was the first to document the government's homophobic policy. Sixty years ago on April 27, 1953, President Eisenhower signed an Executive Order directing all agencies of the federal government to fire any employee found to be gay or lesbian. I feel really ignorant, because I never knew anything about this. Josh Howard has made a film based on this book and has a kickstarter campaign going to fund it. They have already reached their goal, but any extra funding will pay to secure the licensing of archival material to be used in the film. All of this took place before the Stonewall Riots and appears to be the origin of the gay rights movement. There are a few clips of interviews from men that were affected by this. I think this generation needs to see what the LGBTQ community went through to pave the way and make things better for them. There are only 29 hours left to donate to the kickstarter campaign and I think it is a very worthy cause and wanted to let ya'll know about it. Here is the link:

I don't think he's kept his voice or perhaps I'm spoiled. I'm middlin on Clay - warm feelings from when he was on , cooler feelings perhaps more recently. I wouldn't discount the possibility because I thought we've discussed many times the record companies and the show are different entities and profit makes strange bedfellows. I'm not sure he pulls as high of negs as Adam in the general populace. I know my preference but they won't consult me.
