Lifeball 2013 Fan videos by Sanja Melbert ------------------------------------------------
Rehearsal
-------------------------------------------------------
Performance
Well I thought we'd have analysis of these. I can't tell the difference except the main part slightly muted. However it almost seems that the same "whoo hooo" from the crowd appears at the end at the same time and both videos loaded by the same person. So anyone hear any runs etc that don't line up? Did the uploader use different videos but the same audio? Anyone else going to weight in on the comparison of the recording at the dress rehearsal and the actual performance?

I know we follow every move he makes but I am just astounded at some of the comments under the Love Wins Over Glamour video. Some are thinking its an Adam show and complaining that he should just sing without all the costumes and dancing boys! WTF! Then of course the lip sinc issue! I know they don't realize it's a big production number for a charity event and Adam is a guest artist. BUT! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was he lip syncing or just singing over layers of recorded back-up vocals? I can't imagine Adam being willing to lip sync it. I think when Adam sings to a track with his own backing vocals it confuses people because he often chooses to riff or sing the harmony lines live and let the backing vocal carry the main (but sometimes mundane) vocal line. I noticed he did this with FYE when he was doing it live as the main vocal line was rather pedestrian so he would leave that to the backing track and would do spontaneous riffs and embellishments with his live vocal. So his mouth isn't matching what they expect him to be singing and they assume he is lip syncing.

Cuz, comparing phrase by phrase it sounds exactly the same as far as notes, sustains, cut offs, etc. Adam can be very consistent, but that seems too exact for even him. I know of Adam's distain for lip synching, and could not believe he would agree to it, but, it must have been absolutely necessary? Why, oh why? Gotta admit, I am disappointed. Like he compromised his integrity, somehow, being known as one singer who would never stoop to faking it. I know, I know, he probably had an overwhelming reason for it having to do with the sound system, the venue outside, etc. I'll recover.

They had a special mic for him, and they did a soundcheck. Adam to me added another live layer over a recording. How's that for a holographic sound.. ETA: Cassie...hey, I might have been wrong about Adam's coat..lol..but that man isn't a good lip sync/er. I am going with he sang over the recording. So he did sing live and recorded both. How's that? He was fantastic. Letting the coat and synching go here... Whatevs..he pulled it off in true Adam style...BAM!

I played them at almost at the same time.. 3-4 second between both videos.. I didn't hear any different. So it possible that he's using that full backtracking. Maybe it's the same principle as Beyonce NA at the inauguration or any NA at the Super Bowl, Lifeball didn't want to take any risk of any technical (microphone, soundsystem) problem.

Agreed...still think he sang live with the recording. Double your pleasure, double your fun...

IDK how it was performed but I can't understand what difference it makes in Adam's case: one thing if someone lip-syncs because they can't sing as good as the recording (this would be the majority of pop singers) and another thing is if one lip-syncs for some other reason, perhaps having to do with production requirements... (i actually doubt he lyp-synced...)

I'm not going to see it as he is compromising his integrity because of this. My understanding is Adam got himself this gig, Lifeball didn't approach him for this, and they didn't want to take the risk with the microphone, etc. Just like when Adam was asked to comment about Beyonce NA, he said, "Who cares? Everybody knows Beyonce can sing". So I will say the same thing "Everybody knows Adam Lambert can sing" www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4mGHVsOmF4
