cheriemelissa ... everytime I see your avi I get into a meltdown ... soooo gorgeous!!!! I love it too. I've thought many times I should change it to one of the many beautiful pictures of late but I just can't! It brings back too many wonderful memories of his time with Queen.

With this new looks Adam (to me) realy resemblance to someone. The last weeks ever seen Adam's picture when he's going out and the night he was honored by Los Angelos Mayor, I've been racking my brain trying to figure this things out. Now with this picture I know who Adam looks like. He really looks like a more slim version of Leonardo Dicaprio, and maybe more gorgeous. But the eyebrow, the eyes, the nose and the Melvin... really Adamme - I agree completely. Definitely a look of LD - and I seem to remember that when Adam was once asked who would play him in a film, he suggested LD. He also said he had a crush on him. How strange that they should look so similar at times.

My youngest son graduated from NYU film school a year ago and has been living in the city editing his senior thesis film, writing scripts, making small indie films and working on his art. He figures now is his time to go for it when the only responsibility he has is to make enough money to pay rent and to feed himself. Occasionally, I make his day by having some groceries delivered, but not often. We are of the Ebert mentality and feel it is important that he support himself as he tries to break into a very difficult business. That is real world. This very focused son, who always achieved one award or distinction after another growing up in school, initially found this time in his life a bit disconcerting. He was neither here nor there, not really a part of the work place, but not really a student either, just a young film maker out there trying to make films in a sea of other talented filmmakers, an experience not as linear as the life he had previously lived. Sometimes he felt up in the air, sometimes lonely. His brother, my older son, a musician, gave him some great advice at the start of this period in his life, the kind you have to have lived to be able to give. He told him not to worry, that eventually, through working with other artists trying to make it, he would find people with his same artistic sensibility and establish a group of friends that would become a family to him, and working with them and on his own projects would develop a new rhythm that would gel and feel comfortable and take on its own energy. Thankfully, this seems to be happening for him now. I think this happened for Adam, too, in the 12 years he mentioned in his acceptance speech at City Hall, in the 12 years that he has lived in L.A. These years have made L.A. home. This is where his artistic family lives, that group of people who were his friends and creative partners before idol, who understand his artistic sensibility, who have been a part of his struggles and successes and know them all, who have lived them with him, as good, real friends do. These are the people who are a part of his celebration. Perhaps this is why he seems so happy receiving recognition in his own city, the city of L.A. I am thrilled for him. I think I smiled all day yesterday. I sent my husband, who is in South Africa, an email with lifeball pictures and city council pictures side by side. And smiled and smiled. I know you all will understand. It's been a great month for the artists I love. You've explained the idea of an artistic family perfectly. Adam's theater training with the Children's Theater Network, now MET2, has served him very well. He was taught the value of building a support team or family from all of the participants in his theater group. Adam has talked about how close he was to the Hair cast, his Zodiac family, and now his Glamily. During his time on American Idol, he built a family of the other contestants and even called Allison Iraheta his little sister. Of course, it wasn't just his theater training that prompted him to seek out new family members. Part of that desire to build a family, also, came from his parents, but the biggest part came from Adam's own nature. I think Adam moved to LA with an advantage over most aspiring artists.

Isn't that also an explanation for why we are so invested in Adams love live? Sauli is family now and always will be, but we will be equally interested(intrusive) in any future love interest IMHO. Poor guys

I am so extremely happy that Adam got this recognition from the city that he considers home. These past few days have been so joyous. I love, love and love some more Herb Wessons' berting. I am used to hearing Glamberts, the press and people in the music buniness go on and on about the wonders of Adam, but to hear first class berting coming from an avererage, middle aged bloke was so gratifying. When he couldn't remember the name of Mad World and he fished for the lyrics it was just as cute as could be. The AI8 finale was certainly a shock heard around the world.
It is amazing how everyone there seemed to love him. He is a person that glows with love from within, and people can't help but to respond by sending love back.
