6.18.13 Adam out and about in New York!!

IMO, Adam works really hard at staying visible as the attendance at this premiere illustrates as does his getting involved with Life Ball. Very smart of him given evil radios ignoring. He is a celeb and people are interested in him. I remember when he got himself a gig as an fashion commentator at the Grammy Awards that first year after Idol, I thought this guy has what it takes. It helps a lot that he is always gorgeous with interesting attire so that paps what to take, and people want to look at his pictures.

IMO regarding ungency of album 3:

Adam said he feels a sense of urgency. He has said that he wants more successes. He clearly is working hard to breakthrough in mainstream pop and hasn't given up on that goal, for which hurrying would be necessary.

But Adam has also said you can't rush art. He has said there is a balance between the industry demands and his integrity as an artist. He has said that the numbers don't count as much as making something that connects with his fans. He has said he loves the creative process and being in the studio. And he is a perfectionist.

His latest statement isn't anything new is it? I take it as a possitive thing that despite the disappointments of Trespassing he hasn't lost site of the balance.

As fans we drink up everything Adam has to offer us and come back more thirsty than before. And we want him to get what he deserves, which, of course, is not just one hit song but so many that he will hold his place in the history next to Elvis and MJ. We complain about the wait, the frustrations, and the poor decisions but we are not the one who lives these things directly. And it is his legacy after all.

So I find myself asking not what I want, but what Adam wants. Despite all the above contradictions he has labelled his long term plan as "longevity". That can come in many forms and isnt judged by the now but by the forward motion. And as long as there is foward motion I am happy. And thankfully, Adam leaves a wake of new glamberts everywhere he goes, most importantly with the people within his industry.

If there is one lesson from Trespassing, it is that Adam cannot control everything. He cannot control the success of his album. He cannot control the general public's view of ex-Idols, or gay men, or their aparent taste for uninspired, autotuned, mediocre sameness. And no matter how much he tries, he certainly cannot control whether radio will play his music. The only thing Adam can control is the content of his album.

Despite the failures of Trespassing, Adam walks away with the pride of making an exceptional collection of music-music that embodies who he is and what he cares about. Without that he would have nothing. And, that, not speed, is my wish for album number 3.
