Agree with you, Viv! The salute was his cammpy addition but the song was pure bliss. Some people on twitter have said it was similar to the Spielberg rendition but I haven't relistened to that one in ages. It had a similar feel to the Spielberg rendition, more riffs, but very bold. The salute was very Broadway to me, but still didn't come across as being disrespectful to the song. Adam pulled that off very well. Camp and respect..no easy feat to balance, especially with a song as dear to many people as the SSB. And he was loving it... There was one person on my feed that was offended because they were a vet and said they didn't like it when civilians saluted. :( I notice that Adam did what looked like a salute to me to Simon at the end of CIGC around 4:21. So I guess he didn't get the memo. |

It is against etiquette for a civilian to salute in everyday life, but clearly non-military people salute all the time in stage performances.

I am thinking there must be someone in that audience who recorded the whole appearance, including introduction... and that person went to an after party and then got home say at 6 am; went to sleep; should have gotten up say at 2 pm, had something to eat and NOW he/she should be just getting to posting their recordings from last night.... hoping....waiting....  |
