David Thomas Tao @d_taoSaw @adamlambert sing at Broadway Bares last night. Takes a lot to impress that crowd, but he hit notes that wowed longtime Broadway singers Yep.. though they probably know that he's in theater also in LA but Adam rarely get the lead role. So when they've heard Adam Lambert's name, some of these long time Broadway singers probably think he's just another produce of the reality tv shows... but now they witnessed it and heard that VOICE LIVE themselves.

I wish Adam would have been in the first show, too! Look what all those guys missed. And some on twitter were commenting about it...wish they could have been at the last show, too! OH! Yeah!

Speechless. Lawd Almighty, where did all that power come from?? Not so much a third lung, as many comment, but an extra resonance chamber that we mere humans don't have in our anatomy. It's like he has in internal amplifier. I am grinning ear to ear over this performance. This is Adam on overdrive; a total showman tuned into the energy of the event. In the Miramar version, Adam is singing the National Anthem to service men and women. The song is the message and the purpose. As a singer, he gives himself over to the lyrics and the intent. This performance, on the other hand, was Adam showing the audience exactly what ADAM can do vocally. ADAM milking each phrase for the audience. Sing a phrase and rock the rafters. Pause for the audience's incredulous response. Sing the next phrase like they've never heard it sung before. Wait for them to cheer. And repeat. To me, the ending was not a military salute. It was "Done. Check. That's how you do it! Over, and out." (And, just perhaps, a bit of irony? "If you had ever cast me in a Broadway lead, back before I was an 'overnight sensation', when I couldn't get out of the back line of the chorus, THAT'S what you would have gotten, MFers.") Bravo, Adam! Great post cassie.. yep.. he was in front of all those actresses/actors/and great singers .. and some of them may have never been in the same theater project with him or hear him sing live... so last night he showed them what's people talking about his instrument and his technique, etc... and I think it's okay to show them what exactly he can do with it .. but one thing Adam was never in a Broadway though .. He said he almost.. almost went to NY to persue the Broadway, but then he audition for Idol .. Thank the Universe for that. Some have thought Adam not worthy, because he gained fame on a reality talent show.Well Adam shows time and time again just how much he deserves the fame and adulation he has received around the world.Recently he has done a superb job of reaching people from Queen fans to new admirers in many other countries , to gay rights advocates and now to the Broadway Community.IMHO this has been a very amazing year, a year that has garnered many new folks who now know the sublime talent that walks among us.What did Paula Abdul say about Adam's legacy a few years back, I think she used the term Iconic.

By "intonation" do you mean that he sang that part higher than the song goes there to put more emphasis on it? In music, intonation refers to being in tune. Good intonation is in tune: Adam was. Bad intonation is "pitchy" (to quote a famous man who judges singers but doesn't know falsetto from head voice). No, I am using this meaning: "In linguistics, intonation is variation of spoken pitch that is not used to distinguish words; instead it is used for a range of functions such as indicating the attitudes and emotions of the speaker, signalling the difference between statement and question, and between different types of question, focusing attention on important elements of the spoken message"The way he sings that line is different than everyone else. I noticed it in the Miramar one back in 2009 Got it, I think. And he does sing that line an octave higher than it is written, so that adds to the attention it gets. The poem is difficult and I never thought about the lyrics much until I started teaching it to school kids. That line is the 2nd most important, next the "the land of the free," which is the highest note of the song. Trivia Time: The tune of SSB predates the poem. Check out this little history lesson and listen to the MP3.
