Hi everyone!! Long time, no chat!! Squeee!! Concert day, but I'll have to miss tonigh :( and be traveling tomorrow but maybe can watch vids on the train.
My two cents, re: the concert tickets. The tickets are just sitting on the KIIS website and are ripe for some pickin' by anyone who wants them. They are available and plentiful and no one is preventing anyone from snatching them up, so long as they meet the KIIS requirements. (You must be 18 and a SoCal resident – it seems to be tracking by IP – and you cannot have already won.) That's it. If you qualify and enter, the tickets are yours. Easy peasy.
Yes, the whole situation is weird. I truly think they were originally going to do a private venue (something like the small room in the Clear Channel building where the one and only L.A. radio show was held) and only about 15 people won from a HUGE population (the five-county area is close 20 million people), so this is only the second time this region has had access to a radio concert (except Wango Tango, but that is a huge, multi-artist event and it's been three years and you didn't win tickets you paid a lot of money for them).
So, like Patti said, for whatever reason, AT&T, Trevor Project, KIIS or Adam's people decided to move it to a larger venue, but the club is 18 and over. That was their call. They also made it on a night before a national holiday, where people are going to be traveling or out of town and those who are not are going to have to contend with hideous holiday traffic. Believe me, if it wasn't for Adam, I wouldn't even consider trying to drive to L.A. on the day before the 4th of July – not on a bet!! Patti and I won tickets to Katy Perry's VIP concert where they were shooting her movie the night before Thanksgiving and I was like, "Sorry, Katy, but not a chance ..." So, basically, the winners have to be either diehards or have to live very close. The traffic and last-minute nature of the situation is going to preclude a lot of casual or first-time fans.
Once KIIS took over, it became a radio concert and the prizes were awarded at random (IF you passed their restrictions). it's no different than any other radio show across the country.
I HOPE AT&T and Trevor Project have their own allotment of tickets so there will be more LGBT representation, but unless we can call them individually, there is no way for people to let them know the tickets are just waiting for them if they want them. I truly think the winners of the contest will receive VIP treatment, special seating, airfare and lodging, etc. and hopefully a M&G with Adam.
Last point ... consider this: If everyone stood around and ~waited for others to take the tickets and they didn't, it would be DEVASTATING for Adam in the eyes of the second most powerful radio station in the country. He'd be bringing no traffic, the tickets wouldn't move and, in my opinion, it would translate as a complete lack of interest in him. We do NOT want that to even be a consideration as he's working on new music. It would also be devastating in the eyes of AT&T - his first major corporate sponsor if he was to play in a half empty room when they were giving away tickets? OMG!!
