A concept album is not at all a bad thing, guys. Concept albums go back to the earliest days of LPs. Frank Sinatra's most famous and acclaimed work was on concept albums in which each song supported an underlying theme (young love; heartbreak). Sergeant Pepper and Pink Floyd's The Wall are concept albums. Ziggy Stardust is a concept album. Nine Inch Nails Year Zero is a concept album. Willie Nelson has recorded countless concept albums -- Red Headed Stranger and Stardust finally broke radio/Nashville's hostility to him, in fact, and they were cover albums. That's pretty much the only thing keeping me off the ledge at this instant. But will a concept album work for Adam who does not have a lot of work behind him as the Beatles or Sinatra did? Isn't it more an acknowledgment that he could not make it with his own music. I, of course, loved when he sang Queen's catalogue and he was awesome but is this the way to establish him as a current artist? |

Did Shirley write another article about the AT&T concert? she was there and tweeted I believe. Maybe Adam would not sleep his way to the top at RCA and now they are truly mad there now... just a little humor folks!

I feel like such a hypocrite. Whenever some rumour strikes fandom I am always one to wish everyone would calm down, and (sometimes) roll my eyes. I apologize for ever having this attitude, ever. well a covers cd would be a way to put out a fast album. it must be incredibly irritating that FYE was done so quickly and with better sales than original music and time. but then again most artists are not selling like they were a few years ago. era 3 will be full of speculation, and it's just started. I think Adam has added more covers to recent concerts because attendees may not have heard TP and know the songs. just a guess that a broad audience who does not know all the words like us can connect more to the music. (eg, my spouse commented on the songs he knew from Pgh Pride, whereas he does not know the TP dance songs). IMO he sang too many covers in his latest concerts....just too many. He has his own brilliant songs that he dropped in favor of various covers. He went to AI and gave Angie a choice of a song, where he HAD an OPPORTUNITY to promote his own song, instead he promoted Titanium and whoever wrote it.... to me it felt he completely gave up on TP.... Having said that I can't see how this rumor can be true. Hope he will do some rumor control, cause IF he remains silent then IDK... |
