Don't yell at me,but I think ADAM might have a smash with a covers album.. He once said It's easier to sell music people are familiar with and love. He needs another hit and then maybe he can do what he wants .I'm kind of glad that someone admitted that the label was the cause for the lack of support... It wasn't ADAM's fault or the fault of the material on the album .They have done this before to others... and it stinks. Trespassing was Adam's baby,aside from the two songs that RCA set out as singles,Adam did have creative Control.I still think ,in my heart that someday Trespassing will be a famous and long lasting album.. Call me crazy ,just my gut talking. Hopefully Adam , at some point soon, will be able to call his own shots.. right now ,he doesn't have that power. Adam was always saying he had full RCA support for TP. Do we think he didn't know what was going on in reality? IF ANY of that BS is true then IMO we are looking at the last Adam album with RCA. He needs to change the label. A covers project will kill him IMO. |

What makes you guys think that if RCA cut him loose he would be picked up by another label immediately?
i would be shocked if that happened. I am not hand wringing

well a covers cd would be a way to put out a fast album. it must be incredibly irritating that FYE was done so quickly and with better sales than original music and time. but then again most artists are not selling like they were a few years ago. era 3 will be full of speculation, and it's just started. I think Adam has added more covers to recent concerts because attendees may not have heard TP and know the songs. just a guess that a broad audience who does not know all the words like us can connect more to the music. (eg, my spouse commented on the songs he knew from Pgh Pride, whereas he does not know the TP dance songs).

I feel like such a hypocrite. Whenever some rumour strikes fandom I am always one to wish everyone would calm down, and (sometimes) roll my eyes.

If Adam WANTS to do a concept album of covers, OK, I guess. But, there would be the danger of being trapped forever as a cover artist. ![]() What a waste of his song-writing talent that would be. And if the idea is being forced down his throat, as the saying goes, then definitely NO. In that case it might be good to get away from the label, if possible, and go the Amanda Palmer - Kickstarter route. I think Shirley got what she wanted from this "article". Lots of hits, twitter comments a fire. this seems to come from what seems to be her own conjecture and what she knew would make the shit hit the fan. If memory serves she had an Idol contact that I think is no longer there so.... where does she go from there.  |
