I read the Hollywood Reporter item. It's makes me sad. RCA must have a bunch of lazy A &R people. Am i to believe that they cannot find new music to fit the voice that is Adam Lambert. That is ridiculous. If nothing else, RCA should listen to the cover of "Stay". Damn, find the song and Adam will sing the hell out of it. Damn, Adam sings BS and makes it wonderful.
I know that Adam can interpret covers and make them wonderful, but that is so lazy of RCA. Give Adam some material to work with and let him soar. RCA get off your lazy asses and do what your are paid to do. Help your artists, believe in your artists, and make some great music. Stop being skeerd. Adam knows what he is doing. Believe in him. Dammit RCA, get a pair.

I doubt Adam will say anything. The press will let people know that he is working on an album -- his silence will feed the story. ** And if electronic music was the winning formula, how do you explain the top selling albums for 2013 so far? Bruno Mars #2 (Unorthodox Jukebox sold 1.5 million in the US -- a lot in December 2012) and Justin Timberlake #1 sold almost a million in a week, Mumford & Sons' "Babel" just crossed 2.4 million. Blake Shelton is #4. www.billboard.com/articles/news/1568806/justin-timberlake-macklemore-ryan-lewis-lead-mid-year-soundscan-chartsIf by electronic, you mean have electronic instruments and effects, well then everything is electronic. If you me electro-pop, there is not any electro-pop on the top 10. And too much electro-pop will loose a good number of his older fans, which he really can't afford to loose. There is no gaurentee that he will pick up enough of a younger fan base to make up for the loss of older fans. Better to put out something more pop with wide appeal and then a bunch of electro-pop remixes. I wonder about the conventional wisdom that says that Adam needs to really work on attracting a much younger audience. Some of today's biggest selling artists do not attract a really young audience. Sure that are typically not pop singers. But if Adam really wants a much younger fan base, then he needs to sing songs that appeal to that younger fan base. And what is the number 1 type of song appealing to that fan base? It's songs like Teenage Dream, Don't Call Me Maybe, or anything from Taylor Swift - songs about the feelings of unrequited love of young females for young males or their hopes that some day Prince Charming will sweep them off their feet. That's what I wanted to listen too at that age. (Cherish by David Cassidy was my favorite - I can still sing most of the words.) And there is no way Adam will be singing songs like that, not only for the obvious reason that he is gay, but also because he is now in his 30's and his outlook on life has matured. I know my outlook on life changed drastically about the time I hit 30. So that leaves the number 2 type of song that appeals to the much younger fan base, and to some older fans, the party hearty song. There were plenty of those on trespassing (I was on team Cuckoo) and it did not pull in the desired results in terms of a new younger fan base.

Adam has looked too happy to have bad stuff going on. He isnt that good an actor ETA and if nothing else Shirley gave us something to talk about. Can't say we are bored today Yes, I agree he seems very happy. And Shosh seems really happy too. And Adam and Shosh and Brian May seem to be hinting something is going on. (I do not think it is anything to do with the Freddie movie.)

oHH.. do you have another mashed potatoes theory? I do. And if I and my mashed potato friends are right, just remember this photo. I think we will all know why Shosh is coming to LA within a few days, a week at the most!

Dammit RCA, get a pair. My guess is that RCA thinks that Adam had so much popularity on Idol doing 80's covers, that it might be a good way to make him popular again to those who loved him on Idol but haven't followed him since. And it seems very odd to me that the fandoom so wants CDs & DVDs of QAL concerts & was thrilled over the prospect of some QAL recording collaborations but doesn't want an 80's cover album? Queen was 70's & 80's right? But yes, I think the best way an 80's cover album would work would be if he actually worked together with the 80's artist on songs for such an album. Personally, I was never into 80's rock bands (no tomatoes please). When Adam covers rock band songs, I often don't care for the original but love Adam's version. Personally, I want more stuff with a funcky swing beat like Shady and more beautiful ballards! But, I will not be at all upset if Adam does put out an 80's covers CD.

The only thing about Shirley's article that bugs me is the way she makes it sound like RCA did not and does not support Adam. It is just so mean. :( I agree, this made me sad. I hate the part were the so called label source said something like the label would be behind a cover album if they got to have input on choice of material and cover art. To me it seemed like a slap in his face because he had so much control over those aspects for Trespassing. He did a very good job with it too. I am so thin skinned when it comes to Adam.

Wow - I left this afternoon and almost no posts. I come back, and everyone is speculating again. So, in honor of what we all feel, one of my fave songs from West Side Story.

I think they don't want another cover like the U.S. FYE cover. It turned a lot of straight guys off. And he could go very campy with 80's material.

It was not a "label source" -- Shirley wrote, "According to sources, Lambert’s label, RCA Records..." Those "sources" could be anyone but she did not write "a source at RCA". www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lamberts-next-album-all-covers-581758So it is a rumor from someone NOT at RCA. Since she just was at an Adam concert with a lot of Adam friends at it, my bet is the rumor is from something she heard at the concert. Still sounds totally wack to me.
