]It may not have been an RCA person she was quoting, but it certainly gave that impression. Hopefully Adam has such good news coming he can dismiss all this. Or I hope he has developed a really thick skin. Please, he's been wearing armor since shortly after Idol ended.

It was not a "label source" -- Shirley wrote, "According to sources, Lambert’s label, RCA Records..." Those "sources" could be anyone but she did not write "a source at RCA". www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lamberts-next-album-all-covers-581758So it is a rumor from someone NOT at RCA. Since she just was at an Adam concert with a lot of Adam friends at it, my bet is the rumor is from something she heard at the concert. Still sounds totally wack to me. Her exact words: "A label source acknowledges that internally, enthusiasm was lacking for the sophomore effort, but that the Sony-owned company could get behind a covers collection so long as execs have input into such aspects as song selection and cover art."
It may not have been an RCA person she was quoting, but it certainly gave that impression. Hopefully Adam has such good news coming he can dismiss all this. Or I hope he has developed a really thick skin. Read more: adamtopia.com/thread/1798/7-13-adam-news-info?page=5#ixzz2YW5O38blI do not believe anyone from RCA in even a position of minor power would say anything close to that. Maybe this quote was from someone from Sony -- since it has the weird reference to "Sony-owned." And label execs always reserve input into song selection and cover art. All I know is she wrote "RCA Records would not comment." ** Looks to me like she heard a rumor that RCA wanted Adam to do an album of covers from the 80's. Like any good reporter she called RCA and got no comment, called Adam's rep and got that scrap acknowledging the idea of a concept album of songs from another era is just one of several currently being bandied about. Then she spoke to some label exec -- who may or may not have been with Sony. My guess is a Sony exec said that. And she asked the question about if RCA want an album of 80's covers. If Shirley had a rumor she could tie to RCA, she would have written that "a source at RCA....." ** Setting this article aside, I still think the concept is not sensible unless it is far more clever than a bunch of 80's covers.

I classify this as mashed yams!! Well beyond mashed potatoes! C'mon! Mashed parsnips with dill sauce at the very least !! I love mashed parsnips!! How about mashed turnips? ETA: RCA did not option Adam's third album so that they could put our a cover album of 30 year old songs. And they made the decision about A3 after Trespassing was released and they knew the sales numbers. ETA2: I heard from someone who saw a tweet that has been deleted that said that an Adam fan talked to the receptionist at RCA Nashville that Adam is doing a cover album of Mariachi music.

I am on my tablet,so I am hoping for the best. This news article reminded me of something I learned recently, Betteridge's Law of Headlines which states, any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word NO. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge's_law_of_headlines
