Hello all! I de-lurked several weeks ago on Adamtopia and just found you all here. Just a few quick thoughts: NoAngel - SO. MUCH. WORD! Midwifespal - You are me. I also have mixed feelings about how Adam's describing album 2. So much of what I love about FYE is that it's campy and fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. I absolutely adore the variety & uniqueness of it - who wants to hear a whole album of basically the same song over & over again? BORING. It is interesting to hear him discuss it in an introspective light. As he said, the pressure coming off Idol must have been immense & I think this is the first time we've (or at least I've) ever heard him vocalize that he thought he had to go OTT because that's what was expected. I always thought that's what he wanted to do; and maybe it was and now he's ready for something else. Overproduction aside, I will always love FYE & everything he brought to it & GNT - to me it was very authentically Adam. When he first started talking about steering the direction of more WWFM's on #2, I was very :/ about it. I admit WWFM is not my favorite on the album, but I love & appreciate it's Grammy nominated ass now and funnily enough, it's the one I always sing along to. Ok I'm lying, I sing along to all of them. Even having heard WWFM elevnty billion times, I don't tire of it. (Mad World on the other hand can fall off a cliff & never be heard from again...but I digress.) My favorite songs on albums are never selected as singles though. The biggest reason I'm a little dismayed at that direction is I hope he doesn't think he has to dumb down his music to fit in with the rest of the pop drivel. He's better than 99% of the shit on the radio, which is exactly why I do not listen. Ever. Plus I don't want him to feel like he has to dump the glittery, campy, hippie inner alien to be accepted & embraced by the mainstream public & radio. I know he wants long term success but I want him to get there on his own terms dammit! His voice deserves to be admired regardless of the package he presents it in. (Yes, I am a dreamer and an idealist.) I'm sure this is a smart business decision for him but I hope it's what he truly wants and he doesn't feel forced into it. But I've decided I'm not going to worry. Adam has yet to disappoint me musically and it's way too early in the process to start panicking. I trust his judgement & he knows what works well for him. I am totally giddy that the vocals are going to be front & center - that is just all kinds of awesome & was lacking on FYE the album. Plus he is still conceptualizing and will be writing on most tracks so I'm hopeful that we'll get some cray like DTRH! Cassie - Will your vocal masterclass thread be back? I'm dying to get your take on a few WLL versions I've been listening to and ask a few technique questions but I didn't want to clutter up the news thread. Chunkey - LOL. Everytime you post. Love! Seriously, I do not understand the concept of short & sweet. I'd suggest scrolling by all of my future posts unless you are bored.

vid of Spanish Idol with siiiiick Fever number Don't think anyone answered you.. This was a performance on Spain's version of Idol.. so can you just imagine what would have happened if Adam had done this choreog in US... mute the sound and play Adam's version of Fever just the sound.. Thanks seashell - wish I could read spanish - was this one of the contestants, or one of their stars over there? This was such a big production number, surely they don't do that for the contestants? Who is this guy?

musicislife, I love your post and have felt the same fears about album #2. I too am going to trust Adam and because of the voice, I know I will love it. I think I am in the minority when I say, the acoustic part of Glam Nation was my least favorite part of the show. ??? Sorry, but it was. My favorite section was part 3, Adam, dancing with his dancers and rocking with his band. And, of course, the encores (but not Mad World.) My theory on Adam's current assessment of #2 is that 1) He realizes there was too much production on FYE. If he can do his next tour without backing tracks, I will be thrilled. 2) I think Adam is still tired and recovering from his 113 city tour. When he actually starts writing, and getting into it, he will be doing dancey songs, just like in FYE. I mean look at what he is doing with Aftermath - turning it into a dance song. Did any of us ever see that coming???
I don't think Adam could ever completely give up Glam. It's part of him! And as someone else mentioned, he will always do songs from FYE in his tours, even after #2 comes out.
ETA: Just went almost all the way through the process of ordering the SW single, from Germany, but the shipping was $14.00. Not gonna do it.

I'm glad you said the bolded part because I meant to put that at the end of the last post. Whenever a worry a little I laugh at myself, because I have a whole lotta faith in Adam and his decisions, and I certainly don't think he has it in him to make a boring album. In Adam I Trust. (just so long as he doesn't make an album full of intense, heartfelt, personal, honest commentary on how we all need love but love hurts and sometimes we have to look inside ourselves for the truth )[/size] ETA: Mys*&@^#r--just saw your post, and I agree with everything you said, including your GNT preferences.

I also like that Adam isn't clinging to the glam look. Don't get me wrong--I love me some glam. But I don't want to see him turn into Michael Jackson, who, once he glommed on to the Sequined Soldier look with the epaulets and the sashes, never let go of it. I used to have a beautiful poster of Michael in a yellow sweater and white pants, and I always thought a Great Gatsby look would be amazing on him. Instead he just stayed with those stupid faux-military costumes. I think Adam is already realizing that he doesn't want to be pigeonholed into a persona that will get tiresome and look increasingly ridiculous as he gets older. MURLY! However, certainly I love hearing Adam be so introspective, and seeing him think about how over-production can sometimes muffle rather than promote him. I'd love to hear the voice as un-messed with as possible. And Murly, your points about MJ struck me as being very true, and made me think about all this in a different light. Adam is never a caricature--he's more natural than that--and that is one of his great strengths. He has plenty enough charisma and charm and absurdity in his real life personality not to have to hide behind so elaborate, and so obviously false, a persona. So thanks for the pep-talk, however inadvertant it may have been. Murly and Midwifespal, these are both great points about MJ and how he stopped evolving. I think Adam admires Madonna (and therefore, Gaga) enough to know that you have to keep changing it up to keep it fresh. I like to think he will do sort of a reverse Elvis - he's practically through the white sequined jumpsuit phase (you have to admit that Elvis got pretty campy toward the end) and he'll be moving into the extremely hot young Elvis in black leather making movies with Ann Margaret phase. (well, maybe not Ann Margaret - Natalie Portman? Neil Patrick Harris?) I also think he will never entirely give up the glam because that affords endless possibilities as far as staging and costumes for tour, and we know the next tour is going to blow the roof off stadiums across the country.

I watched the video of Gaga on Leno from the Autostraddle site, and I see she came out carrying her 3 Grammys : , wearing some black thing with a mask over her eyes, and the horny looking thingys on her shoulders and face she wore during the Grammys. She mentioned 'The House Of Gaga'. Did she'll incorporate herself and all her projects into this House Of Gaga that she referenced or is this just a term she is using to talk about herself and her 'little monsters'? She went into her, as she termed it, "birth of a new race" when talking about the egg. When asked about the Madonna song she went into I am the biggest Madonna lover etc. and the email thing from Madonna but never did give homage to Madonna's song or really answered the question. Interesting she didn't mention Whitney Houston who she so passionately, on Grammys night, said she drew her inspiration from as she wrote the song. Sorry...I'm not buying any of it.
